Shire Of Indigo
The Shire of Indigo, a Local Government Areas of Victoria, local government area (LGA) in the Hume (region), Hume region of Victoria, Australia, lies in the north-east part of the state. It covers an area of and in August 2021 had a population of 17,368. It includes the towns of Beechworth, Chiltern, Victoria, Chiltern, Rutherglen, Victoria, Rutherglen and Yackandandah. It formed in 1994 from the amalgamation of the Shire of Rutherglen, Shire of Chiltern, Shire of Yackandandah and United Shire of Beechworth. The Shire is governed and administered by the Indigo Shire Council; its seat of local government and administrative centre is located at the council headquarters in Beechworth, it also has service centres located in Chiltern, Rutherglen and Yackandandah. Beechworth
Beechworth is a town located in the north-east of Victoria, Australia, famous for its major growth during the gold rush days of the mid-1850s. At the , Beechworth had a population of 3,290. Beechworth's many historical buildings are well preserved and the town has re-invented itself and evolved into a popular tourist destination and growing wine-producing centre. Smythe after he had left the family estate near Liverpool in 1828, then again near Launceston, Tasmania, in 1838. The Shire of Rutherglen was a local government area about north-northeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The shire covered an area of , and existed from 1862 until 1994. History Rutherglen was incorporated as a road district on 12 September 1862, and became a shire on 16 June 1871. Part of its Lilliput Riding was lost to the Shire of Chiltern in February 1917. Barnawartha
Barnawartha is a small town located on the Hume Highway in regional north-east Victoria, Australia, approximately from Melbourne on the banks of Indigo Creek, which runs into the Murray River to the north. Barnawartha’s commercial centre is located around High Street, the indigo creek park accessed via High Street fronts the creek of the same name and includes a public toilet, BBQ facilities and a walking track. Allans Flat
Allans Flat is a locality in Victoria, Australia. It is located along Osbornes Flat Road, north-east of Yackandandah. The areas around Allans Flat were mined for gold between the 1850s and 1904 though without sufficient population for a Post Office until 26 October 1876. History Allans Flat was surveyed and proclaimed in 1905. The Post Office closed in 1975.
