Shinonoi Line
The is a railway line in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It connects Shinonoi Station in Nagano, Nagano, Nagano with Shiojiri Station in Shiojiri, Nagano, Shiojiri. The line is a corridor between the Shinetsu Main Line and the Chūō Main Line. All the limited express trains on the Shinonoi Line come from the Chūō Main Line: ''Azusa (train), Azusa'' from Tokyo and ''Shinano (train), Shinano'' from Nagoya. Shinano (train)
The , branded as is a limited express train service in Japan operated by Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), which runs between and via . Like all JR Central limited express trains, a limited express fee has to be paid, on top of the normal fare to ride this service. Route Trains start and terminate at Nagoya Station. There was formerly a daily return service between Nagano and Ōsaka, which travelled a total distance of 274.1 miles (441.2 km) and took approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. This made the ''Shinano'' the furthest travelling daytime limited express service in Japan prior to its discontinuation on 26 March 2016 due to declining passenger numbers. Ōito Line
The is a railway line in Japan which connects Matsumoto Station in Nagano Prefecture with Itoigawa Station in Niigata Prefecture. There are two operators on the line: East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and West Japan Railway Company (JR West). Minami-Otari is the boundary for the two companies. The section of the line operated by JR East, between Minami-Otari and Matsumoto, is electrified and trains are fairly regular along this section.
