Sebadoh EPs
Sebadoh () is an American indie rock band formed in 1986 in Northampton, Massachusetts, by Eric Gaffney and Lou Barlow, with multi-instrumentalist Jason Loewenstein completing the line-up in 1989. Barlow co-created Sebadoh as an outlet for his songwriting when J. Mascis gradually took over creative control of Dinosaur Jr., in which Barlow plays bass guitar. Along with such bands as Pavement, Beat Happening and Guided by Voices, Sebadoh helped pioneer a lo-fi style of indie rock characterized by low-fidelity recording techniques that employed four-track cassette tape machines. The band's early output, such as '' The Freed Man'' and '' Weed Forestin''' (both released 1990), as well as '' Sebadoh III'' (1991), was typical of this style. Following the release of '' Bubble & Scrape'' in 1993, Gaffney left the band. Jason Loewenstein
Jason Loewenstein (born July 20, 1971) is an American alternative rock singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and a member of the indie-rock bands Sebadoh, The Fiery Furnaces, and Circle of Buzzards. He grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he attended Northampton High School, and now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Sebadoh In 1989, Loewenstein was recruited by Eric Gaffney to play drums and bass for Sebadoh. His first songwriting contributions came on '' Sebadoh III'' and continued on '' Bubble & Scrape'', adding "dark .. rough hewn pop gems" like "Happily Divided" and "Sister". Following Gaffney's departure from Sebadoh in 1993, Loewenstein assumed a higher songwriting profile, contributing five songs to 1994's ''Bakesale''. ''III'' (or ''Sebadoh III'') is the third album by the American indie rock band Sebadoh. It was released by Homestead Records in 1991. ''III'' was the first full length Sebadoh album to feature Jason Loewenstein, who joined the band's two founding members Lou Barlow and Eric Gaffney in 1989, and debuted on the " Gimme Indie Rock" single earlier that year. The album cover features a childhood photograph taken by Gaffney. Recording The album was recorded for . It was recorded at Fort Apache Studios, then located in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, and at home, during the last two weeks of March 1991. Music ''III'' features songwriting contributions from all three band members, with folky, melodic material by Barlow, open-tuned drone acoustic, and noisy hardcore rock by Gaffney, and songs that bridged the gap between those extremes by Loewenstein. Weed Forestin'
''Weed Forestin'' is an album by the American indie rock band Sebadoh. It was originally self-released by Barlow on cassette in 1987, under the Sentridoh name, the solo home-recording project of American rock musician and Sebadoh member Lou Barlow, and sold at record stores in his native Massachusetts in an approximate run of 100. In 1990, it was officially released by Homestead on vinyl and cassette under the name of Barlow's newly formed band Sebadoh. Later that year it was re-released on CD by Homestead on the Sebadoh compilation album '' The Freed Weed'', which also contains a number of songs from the band's debut album, '' The Freed Man'' (1989). In 2012, the album was again self-released under the Sentridoh name, in a number of formats on the website ''Bandcamp'', including CD, vinyl, cassette and digital download. The album was named after a lyric in the Barlow song "Lose," which was not included in ''Weed Forestin'' but reworked into a Dinosaur Jr. song on their 1987 ...
