Scottish Open (snooker)
The Scottish Open is a Snooker world rankings, ranking professional snooker tournament held in the United Kingdom. The tournament had many name changes in its history, as the tournament was formerly called International Open, Matchroom Trophy and Players Championship. Apart from a hiatus in the Snooker season 1990/1991, 1990/1991 and Snooker season 1991/1992, 1991/1992 seasons, the tournament remained a ranking event until Snooker season 2003/2004, 2003/2004. In the Snooker season 2012/2013, 2012/2013 season the tournament was added back to the calendar as part of the Players Tour Championship 2012/2013, Players Tour Championship minor-ranking series. On 29 April 2015, Barry Hearn announced it would return to the main tour in 2016 at the Emirates Arena Glasgow, as part of the new Home Nations Series with the existing Welsh Open (snooker), Welsh Open, and the new English Open (snooker), English Open and Northern Ireland Open (snooker), Northern Ireland Open tournaments. The Sweater Shop was a Leicestershire, England, based clothing company with many national outlets. History The Sweater Shop Ltd was established by Margaret Wood on 20 March 1973 in Barwell, Leicestershire. The company was sold on 28 April 1995 to a management buyout for £150m. Closure In May 1998 the company went into receivership. At the time of closure it had 78 retail outlets. As of 2020, Sweater Shop (no 'The') is a separate company trading under the same brand name. The Future In early 2025, Margaret Wood's son, Tádhg, said that he was looking at bringing the brand to a new audience as he owns the trademark "The Sweater Shop". The Bournemouth International Centre (commonly known as the BIC ) in Bournemouth, Dorset, was opened in September 1984. Plymouth Pavilions
Plymouth Pavilions is an entertainment and sports complex in Plymouth, Devon, England. The arena is used as an entertainment venue and also for corporate hire. The Pavilions is built on the site of the former Millbay railway station that is directly opposite the Duke of Cornwall Hotel. The granite pillars which can be seen outside the main entrance were once the gate posts to the station. Ice Rink and Pool Closure Plymouth Pavilions was one of the only indoor centres with an ice rink in Devon, but in 2022 due to the cost of living crisis, the company declared the Ice Rink would close for good. Plymouth Pavilions was also the home of a family fun indoor swimming pool - including an underwater-themed extension which closed in 2003; however on 18 March 2012, in response to the opening of the state-of-the-art Plymouth Life Centre, the swimming pool was shut down.
