Sanrio Characters
This is a list of characters from Sanrio, a Japanese company specialized in creating kawaii (cute) characters. Sanrio sells and licenses products branded with these characters and has created over 450 characters. Their most successful and best known character, Hello Kitty, was created in 1974. Most Sanrio characters are Anthropomorphism, anthropomorphized animals, while a few are humans or anthropomorphized objects. Sanrio began creating characters to increase sales of its merchandise. Typical merchandise featuring the characters include clothing, accessories, toys and stationery. The characters subsequently appeared in media such as books, animation and video games. Beginning with ''Jewelpet'' in 2008, Sanrio started collaborating with Sega Toys in creating characters intended to become media franchises. Sanrio Character Rankings
The Sanrio Character Rankings are an annual popularity poll in which users vote for their favourite Sanrio character. The popularity poll has been conducted every year since 1986. Previously conducted via Sanrio's official monthly newspaper, the '' Strawberry Newspaper'', the ranking is now conducted online. From the official Sanrio Character Ranking 2025 website FAQs: "The Sanrio character ranking is an annual, popularity contest for Sanrio characters and this year marks its 40th year! The 90 characters included have been chosen after careful consideration from various perspectives." The Character Cinnamoroll has been incredibly popular in the rankings in recent years, having won seven out of eight times between 2017 and 2024. Windermere, Cumbria (town)
Windermere () is a town in the civil parish of Windermere and Bowness, in the Westmorland and Furness district in the ceremonial county of Cumbria, England; it is within the Lake District National Park.
