Røst is a small island List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Nordland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Lofoten. Røst Airport
Røst Airport (; ) is a regional airport serving Røst Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The airport is located on the northern edge of the main island of Røstlandet, just north of the main village of Røstlandet. It is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor, and the tower is remotely controlled from Bodø. The airport handled 9,889 passengers in 2014. Services are provided by Widerøe, operating Dash 8-100 aircraft on contract with the Ministry of Transport and Communications to Bodø Airport and Leknes Airport. Røst was first served using seaplanes from the 1960s, and then by helicopters from 1970. Røst Airport opened on 1 June 1986, initially with Widerøe operating de Havilland Canada Twin Otters. Røst Church
Røst Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Røst Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Røstlandet on the island of Røstlandet. It is the church for the Røst parish which is part of the Bodø domprosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1900 using plans drawn up by the architect A. Evjen. The church seats about 270 people. The building was consecrated on 26 September 1900. Røst Reef
The Rost Reef () is a deep-water coral reef off the coast of the Lofoten islands in Nordland county, Norway. The reef was discovered in 2002, about west of the island of Røstlandet. It extends over a length of about , and has a width of up to . The reef is generated by the coral ''Lophelia pertusa'', and is the world's largest known ''Lophelia'' reef. It is also the world's largest known deep-water coral reef. The authorities have introduced regulations to protect the reef against trawling. The temperature of the waters near the bottom of the Rost coral reef is 2 °C. Røstlandet or simply Røst is an island in Røst Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island makes up the majority of the land of the municipality and is home to most of its residents. The island is very low and marshy, with the highest point on the island only reaching above sea level. There are many small lakes on the island, many of the wetlands areas on the island are located in a protected nature reserve. Røstlandet is the administrative centre of Røst Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The fishing village covers the southeastern half of the island of Røstlandet. Røst Airport is located on the northern part of the island. Røst Church is located in the village and serves the people of Røst Municipality. The village has a population (2023) of 331 and a population density of . Despite its small size, the island attracts many tourists each year. The village is connected to several smaller islands to the southwest by bridges. Peter Rost (handballer)
Peter Rost (born 29 June 1951 in Leipzig, East Germany) is a former German Team handball player; today he works as a coach and an official in this sport. His biggest success was winning the Olympic gold medal as the captain of the national team of East Germany in Moscow in 1980. Rost played for SC Leipzig nationally. In 1966 he won the DDR youth championship, and in 1972, 1976 and 1979 he won the East German Championship with the club. In 1984 he was named East German handballer of the year. All in all, he played internationally for East Germany 216 times, scoring 339 goals. He was in the team that came in second in the 1974 World Championship in their own country. As a coach, he was responsible for the women's team from Frankfurt/Oder, the men's team of SC Magdeburg (1998/99) and of ThSV Eisenach (2001–2003). Meinoud Marinus Rost van Tonningen (19 February 1894 – 6 June 1945) was a Dutch politician of the National Socialist Movement (NSB). During the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II, he collaborated extensively with the German occupation forces. He was the husband of Florentine Rost van Tonningen. Early life Meinoud Marinus Rost van Tonningen was born on 19 February 1894 on the island of Java, in the city of Surabaya in the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia). He was the son of KNIL general Marinus Bernardus Rost van Tonningen, who had distinguished himself suppressing the revolts against Dutch rule on Lombok, Aceh and Bali. Monika Rost (born 21 February 1943)Józef Powroźniak: ''Gitarren-Lexikon'' (Berlin: Verlag Neue Musik, 1986), p.180. is a classical guitarist, lute player and musicologist. She studied with Ursula Peter at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt", Weimar, Liszt School of Music Weimar, Germany, and later became Professor and Head of Guitar there herself. She has performed in many countries, both solo and in a duo with Jürgen Rost, and has made a number of recordings. She has won many first prizes, including the Concours International de la Guitare in Paris (Radio France), "with special honours from the jury". Peter Rost (doctor)
Peter Rost is an American former drug marketing executive who is most known for taking public stances critical of the pharmaceutical industry as an "insider" and whistleblower. He sued his last two pharmaceutical employers, Wyeth and Pfizer, the latter of which fired him in 2005. At Wyeth, he uncovered tax evasion practices, and after informing senior company executives, was transferred from Sweden to a post in New Jersey. Rost sued the company, saying that the transfer was a retaliatory demotion, though the company said it was a promotion. Rost settled with Wyeth for an undisclosed amount in 2003. At Pfizer, Rost filed a ''qui tam'' suit disclosing off-label marketing of Genotropin at Pharmacia prior to its purchase by Pfizer. The U.S. Department of Justice declined to join in Rost's suit as the marketing violations had already been disclosed to the Department by Pfizer.
