Ridgeback is a British bicycle brand manufacturing road, urban, utility, youth and mountain models. Their bikes are distributed by Sportline UK which is owned by H Young Holdings. History Ridgeback's story started in 1983, when founder Errol Drew created the first UK mountain bike. Drew first spotted a mountain bike at the 1982 New York Bike Show, where he declared it “the future of cycling.” Ridgeback's next major development was the creation of the flat handlebar road bike. On December 29, 2016, Lightstream Resources Ltd. announced the closing of its asset sale to Ridgeback Resources Inc. As of March 1st, 2023, Ridgeback Resources Inc. is now Saturn Oil and Gas Inc. Ridgeback is privately owned by hedge fund manager and physician, Wayne Holman (formerly of S.A.C. Capital Advisors) and his wife Wendy Holman. Wendy is the CEO at the company, which refers to itself as a majority woman owned business. In early 2020, Ridgeback purchased an exclusive license for the commercial development of Molnupiravir from Emory University, where the drug was initially developed with $16 million in grants from Federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health. The Phu Quoc Ridgeback (Vietnamese language, Vietnamese: ''Chó Phú Quốc'') is a rare list of dog breeds, breed of dog from the island of Phú Quốc in Kiên Giang Province in southern Vietnam. It is one of three ridgeback breeds, the others being the Rhodesian Ridgeback and the Thai Ridgeback. It is not recognized by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale or any other major club. The Phu Quoc Ridgeback is one of the four native Vietnamese dog breeds, along with the Bắc Hà dog (Chó Bắc Hà), Lài Dog, Lài dog (chó lài), Hmong bobtail dog, Hmong Bobtail Dog (chó H’Mông cộc đuôi). Rhodesian Ridgeback
The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a large dog breed originally bred in Southern Africa. The original breed standard was drafted by F.R. Barnes, in Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), in 1922, and approved by the Kennel Union of Southern Africa, South African Kennel Union in 1927. Its forebears can be traced to the ridged hunting and guardian dogs of the Khoekhoe, Khoikhoi. These were interbred with European dogs by the early colonists of the Cape Colony for assisting in the Lion hunting, hunting of lions. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are known for their protective, yet loyal temperaments. Thai Ridgeback
The Thai Ridgeback (, ) is a dog from Thailand. Its origins are in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces in the eastern part of Thailand. The Thai Ridgeback is one of only three breeds that has a ridge of hair that runs along its back in the opposite direction to the rest of the coat. The other two are the Rhodesian Ridgeback and the Phu Quoc Ridgeback. Appearance The Thai Ridgeback is a muscular, medium-sized pariah-type dog with a wedge-shaped head, triangular-shaped prick ears, and a very short, smooth coat. It has a pronounced ridge on its back formed by hair growing in the opposite direction that extends from behind the withers to the hips. Puppies are occasionally born ridgeless.
