Remington, Baltimore
Remington is a neighborhood in northern Baltimore bordered to the north by Hampden, Baltimore, Hampden, Wyman Park, Baltimore, Wyman Park, and Johns Hopkins University and to the east by Charles Village, Baltimore, Charles Village. The southernmost boundary is U.S. Route 1, North Avenue and the long southwestern boundary is formed by Maryland Route 25, Falls Road in the Interstate 83, I-83 corridor. The neighborhood is split between two Baltimore City Council Districts (District 14 and District 12). History Remington shared its early history with other nearby communities that grew up alongside the mills built along the Jones Falls, whose drop powered grist mills, iron foundries and textile mills. In addition to the water-powered factories along the Jones Falls, quarries in the Remington area operated for over 100 years and provided an enormous amount of stone for the building of Baltimore, furnishing material for thousands of foundations, walls and steps. List Of Baltimore Neighborhoods
This list of Baltimore neighborhoods includes the neighborhoods of Baltimore, Maryland, divided into nine geographical regions: North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, Northwest, and Central. Each district is patrolled by a respective precinct of the Baltimore Police Department. Charles Street (Baltimore), Charles Street down to Maryland Route 2, Hanover Street and Ritchie Highway serve as the east-west dividing line and Maryland Route 150, Eastern Avenue to U.S. Route 40 in Maryland, Route 40 as the north-south dividing line. Baltimore Street is the north-south dividing line for the U.S. Postal Service. It is not uncommon for locals to divide the city simply by East or West Baltimore, using Charles Street or I-83 as a dividing line.
