Philippines–United States relations () are the bilateral and diplomatic relations of the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America. The relationship has been historically strong, described by some as a "Special relationship (international relations), special relationship" as a consequence of the Philippines' American colony, colonial period between 1898 and 1946. The Philippines is one of the United States oldest Asian partners and a strategically Major non-NATO ally#Thailand, Philippines and Singapore, major non-NATO ally. Louisiana (New Spain)
Louisiana (, ), was a province of New Spain from 1762 to 1801. It was primarily located in the center of North America encompassing the western basin of the Mississippi River plus New Orleans. The area had originally been claimed and controlled by France, which had named it '' La Louisiane'' in honor of King Louis XIV in 1682. Spain secretly acquired the territory from France near the end of the Seven Years' War by the terms of the Treaty of Fontainebleau (1762). Morro Bay (''Morro'', Spanish for "Hill") is a seaside city in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States.
