Perfluorinated Compound
A perfluorinated compound (PFC) or perfluoro compound is an Organofluorine chemistry, organofluorine compound that lacks C-H bonds. Many perfluorinated compounds have properties that are quite different from their C-H containing analogues. Common functional groups in PFCs are Alcohol (chemistry), OH, Perfluorinated carboxylic acid, CO2H, Chlorofluorocarbon, chlorine, perfluoroether, O, and sulfonic acid, SO3H. Electrochemical fluorination, Electrofluorination is the predominant method for PFC production. Due to their chemical stability, some of these perfluorinated compounds Bioaccumulation, bioaccumulate. Applications One class of perfluorinated compounds, the fluorosurfactants, are widely used in the production of teflon (PTFE) and related fluorinated polymers. They also have been used to confer hydrophobicity and stain-resistance to fabrics. They are components of Firefighting foam, fire-fighting foam. Fluorosurfactants (PFAS) reduce surface tension by concentrating at the liqui ...

Persepolis F
Persepolis (; ; ) was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (). It is situated in the plains of Marvdasht, encircled by the southern Zagros mountains, Fars province of Iran. It is one of the key Iranian cultural heritage sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BC. The city, acting as a major center for the empire, housed a palace complex and citadel designed to serve as the focal point for governance and ceremonial activities. It exemplifies the Achaemenid architecture, Achaemenid style of architecture. The complex was taken by the army of Alexander the Great in 330 BC, and soon after, its wooden parts were completely destroyed by fire, likely deliberately. The function of Persepolis remains unclear. It was not one of the largest cities in ancient Iran, let alone the rest of the empire, but appears to have been a grand ceremonial complex that was only occupied seasonally; the complex was raised high on a walled plat ...

Passenger Facility Charge
A passenger facility charge (PFC) is a fee that almost all airline travelers in the United States pay in their ticket price. The fee goes toward the upkeep and maintenance of airports, and is set up and capped according to US federal law. The law allows airports to charge up to $4.50 for every enplaned passenger at public agency-controlled commercial airports. Airports must use the money from the fees to pay for projects approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that, according to the FAA, "enhance safety, security, or capacity; reduce noise; or increase air carrier competition." History Beginning June 1, 1992, commercial airports that were controlled by public agencies began collecting passenger facility charges. The charges were added to airline tickets and, at the time, were $3 per passenger, per leg. Effective 2001, due to passage of the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, Congress raised the PFC cap to $4.50 per ticket or $18 ...

Pillow Fight Championship
The Pillow Fight Championship (PFC) is a professional sports organization that arranges competitive pillow fighting matches. It was founded by brothers Steve and Paul Williams in 2021. The PFC offers a unique style of combat sport that combines elements of boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) using specialized pillows. History The concept for Pillow Fight Championship originated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Paul Williams initially created the concept and presented it to Steve Williams, who was hesitant about supporting the idea. Steve Williams was eventually convinced that pillow fighting would succeed over other, more traditional combat sports concepts due to factors including MMA market oversaturation and sponsorship issues. The intention was to create a combat sport that was more advertiser- and family-friendly. Steve Williams stated in 2022 that "the only difference between our fights and MMA fights is that nobody gets hurt," and that PFC was for "people who don't want to ...

Port F
A port is a maritime facility comprising one or more wharves or loading areas, where ships load and discharge cargo and passengers. Although usually situated on a sea coast or estuary, ports can also be found far inland, such as Hamburg, Manchester and Duluth; these access the sea via rivers or canals. Because of their roles as ports of entry for immigrants as well as soldiers in wartime, many port cities have experienced dramatic multi-ethnic and multicultural changes throughout their histories. Ports are extremely important to the global economy; 70% of global merchandise trade by value passes through a port. For this reason, ports are also often densely populated settlements that provide the labor for processing and handling goods and related services for the ports. Today by far the greatest growth in port development is in Asia, the continent with some of the world's largest and busiest ports, such as Singapore and the Chinese ports of Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan. As of ...
