On Her Majesty's Secret Service (film)
''On Her Majesty's Secret Service'' is a 1969 spy film and the sixth in the List of James Bond films, ''James Bond'' series produced by Eon Productions. It is based on the On Her Majesty's Secret Service (novel), 1963 novel by Ian Fleming. Following Sean Connery's decision to retire from the role after ''You Only Live Twice (film), You Only Live Twice'', Eon selected George Lazenby, a model with no prior acting credits, to play the part of James Bond filmography, James Bond. During filming, Lazenby announced that he would play the role of Bond only once. Connery returned to portray Bond in 1971's ''Diamonds Are Forever (film), Diamonds Are Forever''. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (soundtrack)
''On Her Majesty's Secret Service'' ("OHMSS") is the 1969 soundtrack for the James Bond film. It was composed, arranged, and conducted by John Barry; his fifth in the series. Opening theme The opening theme for '' On Her Majesty's Secret Service'' proved challenging for composer John Barry. The convention in the previous James Bond films was to accompany the opening credits with a song whose lyrics included the film's title. This film became the first in the series since '' From Russia with Love'' to deviate from this rule (and ''From Russia with Love'' had differed only in featuring the song, sung by Matt Monro, at the end of the film rather than the beginning). Barry felt it would be difficult to compose a theme song containing the title "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" unless it was written operatically, in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. Leslie Bricusse had considered lyrics for the title song but director Peter R. Hunt allowed an instrumental opening title theme in ...

Secret Service (other)
A secret service is a government agency, intelligence agency, or the activities of a government agency, concerned with the gathering of intelligence data. The tasks and powers of a secret service can vary greatly from one country to another. For instance, a country may establish a secret service which has some policing powers (such as surveillance) but not others. The powers and duties of a government organization may be partly secret and partly not. The person may be said to operate openly at home and secretly abroad, or vice versa. Secret police and the FBI can usually be considered secret services. Various states and regimes, at different times and places, established bodies that could be described as a secret service or secret police – for example, the ''agentes in rebus'' of the late Roman Empire were sometimes defined as such. In modern times, the French police officer Joseph Fouché is sometimes regarded as a pioneer of secret intelligence; among other things, he is allege ...

On His Majesty's Service
''On His Majesty's Service'' or ''On Her Majesty's Service'' (depending on the gender of the reigning monarch), is an official franking commonly seen on correspondence from government departments in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and other countries that share the same monarch as their head of state (now known as Commonwealth realms). The expanded form, ''On His/Her Britannic Majesty's Service'' has been used for international correspondence, for example for mail to British diplomatic posts in other countries. In Canada, the initialism O.H.M.S. may be written on an envelope instead of using postage stamps for any letters being sent to the House of Commons of Canada or to any member of the Parliament of Canada. Letters sent from lieutenant-governors may also bear the O.H.M.S. mark. The French translation ''Service de sa Majesté'' (''SDSM'') is also used. In Australia before Federation, letters in envelopes franked with the O.H.M.S. mark were exempt from postal fees. ...
