Naxalite–Maoist Insurgency
The Naxalite–Maoist insurgency is an ongoing conflict between the Indian government and Left-wing terrorism, left-wing extremist groups. The Naxalites are a group of communist groups, who follow Maoist political sentiment and ideology, and claim to fight a rural rebellion and people's war against the government. The insurgency started after the Naxalbari uprising, 1967 Naxalbari uprising and the subsequent split of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) leading to the creation of a Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist), Marxist–Leninist faction. The faction later splintered into various smaller groups. The armed wing of the Maoists is called the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (India), People's Liberation Guerrilla Army, mostly equipped with small arms. The Communist Party of India (Maoist) is a banned Marxist–Leninist-Maoist communist political party and militant organization in India which aims to overthrow the Republic of India through protracted people's war. It was founded on 21 September 2004, through the merger of the CPIML People's War and the MCCI. The party has been designated as a terrorist organisation in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act since 2009. In 2006, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh referred to the Maoists as "the single biggest internal security challenge" for India, and said that the "deprived and alienated sections of the population" form the backbone of the Maoist movement in India. Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) is an anti-revisionist Marxist–Leninist communist party in India. After the death of Charu Majumdar in 1972 the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) pro Charu Majumdar central committee was led by Mahadev Mukherjee and Jagjit Singh Sohal, and the Central Committee took a stand to defend the line of Charu Majumdar on 5–6 December 1972. Lal Sena (लाल सेना; lit. Red Army in Hindi) was an organised armed militia of CPIML Liberation in northeastern India, across the terrains of central Bihar, north-west of today's Jharkhand, and a few districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation (CPI(ML)L) is a communist political party in India. The party is represented in Bihar and Jharkhand Legislative Assemblies. Since 2023, the party is also a member of the INDIA bloc. In Bihar, the party has significant base amongst the Extremely Backward Castes and the Schedule Castes.
