Nathan Bedford Forrest
Nathan Bedford Forrest (July 13, 1821October 29, 1877) was an List of slave traders of the United States, American slave trader, active in the lower Mississippi River valley, who served as a General officers in the Confederate States Army, Confederate States Army general during the American Civil War. He was a founding member and the first Grand Wizard of the post-Civil War First Klan, Reconstruction-era Ku Klux Klan, serving from 1867 to 1869. Before the war, Forrest amassed substantial wealth as a horse and cattle trader, real estate broker, Slave markets and slave jails in the United States, slave jail operator, Slave trade in the United States, interstate slave trader, and cotton plantation owner. Brady-Handy Collection
The Brady-Handy collection is a historical photo archive of the United States. The collection is a cache of "mostly American Civil War, Civil War and post-Civil War portraits, with a small collection of Washington, D.C., Washington views" purchased by the Library of Congress in 1954, from descendants of Levin C. Handy, nephew and apprentice of photographer Mathew Brady. The collection included 10,000 original, duplicate, and copy Negative (photography), negatives including about 4,000 original Collodion process, wet collidion plates and 1,300 Photographic plate, glass plate negatives. The collection also included 24 Daguerreotype, daguerreotypes. The credited photographers are chiefly—but by no means entirely—Brady, Brady studio, and Handy. Battle Of Tupelo
The Battle of Tupelo, also known as the Battle of Harrisburg, was a battle of the American Civil War fought July 14–15, 1864, near Tupelo, Mississippi. The Union victory over Confederate forces in north Mississippi ensured the safety of Sherman's supply lines during the Atlanta Campaign. Background The spring and summer of 1864 found the attention of the people of Mississippi focused on fighting in Virginia and Georgia. Interwoven with, and having important repercussions on, the fighting in northwestern Georgia were military operations in northeast Mississippi designed to prevent the Confederates under Lieutenant-General Stephen D. Mat Luxton
Mat Luxton (February 27, 1844January 22, 1924), formally James Madison Luxton, was a Confederate-aligned guerrilla and Texas deputy sheriff in the 19th-century United States. American Civil War J. M. Luxton, age 18 at enlistment, was a younger half-brother of Nathan Bedford Forrest by their mother's second marriage. Luxton was described as "notorious" in at least two histories. The label ''guerrilla'' may be disputed; U.S. Army general Don Buell later told a military commission investigating his strategic decisions in 1862, "I object to this term 'guerrillas' as applied to these troops. They are as much troops as any in the rebel service. I think there is a difference between the cavalry of Morgan, Forrest, and Starnes, and what we understand by 'guerrillas.' I know of no reason for giving them a character which does not belong to them, for they are not 'guerrillas' in the proper sense of that term." According to the Old Testament of the Bible, Aaron ( or ) was an Israelite prophet, a high priest, and the elder brother of Moses. Information about Aaron comes exclusively from religious texts, such as the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament (Gospel of Luke, Luke, Acts, and Epistle to the Hebrews, Hebrews), and the Quran.
