NBC Sports is an American programming division for NBCUniversal, a division of Comcast, that is responsible for sports broadcasts on their broadcast network NBC, the Cable television, cable channels NBC owns, and on Peacock (streaming service), Peacock. The division is officially owned and operated by NBCUniversal's subsidary NBC Sports Group. Formerly operating as "a service of NBC News", it broadcasts a diverse array of sports events, including Big East Conference, Big East basketball, Big Ten Conference, Big Ten football and basketball, NASCAR, the National Football League (NFL), Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, Notre Dame football, the Olympic Games, PGA Tour golf, the Premier League, the Tour de France, and Thoroughbred racing among others. College Football On NBC Sports
''College Football on NBC Sports'' is the ''de facto'' title used for College football on television, broadcasts of National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA college football games produced by NBC Sports. Via its experimental station W2XBS, NBC presented the first television broadcast of American football at any level 1939 Waynesburg vs. Fordham football game, on September 30, 1939, between the Fordham Rams football, Fordham Rams and the Waynesburg University#Athletics, Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. Golf On NBC
Golf telecasts have aired on NBC since 1954, with some of its earliest telecasts having included the 1954 U.S. Open, and the first televised coverage of the Ryder Cup in 1959. Presently, NBC televises around 8 PGA Tour events per-season, alternating with CBS on the FedEx Cup Playoffs since 2022. It also serves as the broadcast television outlet for two of the men's majors, the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. NBC has occasionally aired coverage for selected European Tour and LPGA events, although the majority of these tours' events are broadcast by sister network Golf Channel. The PGA Tour (stylized as PGA TOUR by its officials) is the organizer of professional golf tours in North America. It organizes most of the events on the flagship annual series of tournaments also known as the PGA Tour, the PGA Tour Champions (age 50 and older), the Korn Ferry Tour (for professional players who have not yet qualified to play on the PGA Tour), and PGA Tour Americas.
