Mänttä-Vilppula (; , also ) is a List of cities and towns in Finland, town and Municipalities of Finland, municipality of Finland. The municipalities of Mänttä and Vilppula were consolidated into a single municipality on January 1, 2009. It is located in the Pirkanmaa region. The town has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. Major lakes in the area include the Lake Ruovesi, Ruovesi, Lake Kuorevesi, Kuorevesi and Keurusselkä. The municipality is unilingually Finnish language, Finnish. Neighbouring municipalities are Keuruu, Juupajoki, Jämsä, Ruovesi and Virrat. The city of Tampere is located southwest of the center of Mänttä-Vilppula. Culturally, Mänttä-Vilppula is known, among other things, for the Serlachius Museum situated in the Mänttä area, which houses the art collection collected by ''Vuorineuvos'' Gösta Serlachius (1876–1942). Pirkanmaa
Pirkanmaa (; ; ), also known as ''Tampere Region'' in government documents, is a region of Finland. It borders the regions of Satakunta, South Ostrobothnia, Central Finland, Päijät-Häme, Kanta-Häme and Southwest Finland. Most of the water area in the Kokemäki River watershed is located in the Pirkanmaa region, although Lake Vanajavesi is partly in the Kanta-Häme region. Vilppula
Vilppula was a former municipality of Finland. Neighbouring Mänttä was merged into it on 1 January 2009 to form the municipality of Mänttä-Vilppula. The municipality was unilingually Finnish. It was located in the province of Western Finland and was part of the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality had a population of 5,457 in 2005 and covered an area of 571.26 km2 of which 99.90 km2 was water. The population density was 10.5 inhabitants per km2. The work force mainly consisted of industry and service, these accounting for 50 and 39 percent of total workforce. Population was estimated to be at a slight decline. The Kolho village in Vilppula is located to the north. Another village, Pohjaslahti, is located northwest from the Vilppula centre. Lake Kuorevesi
Lake Kuorevesi () is a medium-sized lake in Finland. It is situated in the municipalities of Mänttä-Vilppula and Jämsä (formerly Kuorevesi) in the Central Finland region. The lake is part of the Kokemäenjoki basin. The lake's main inflow is lake Keurusselkä, which drains into Kuorevesi from the north. Mänttä is a former town and municipality of Finland. It was merged with the municipality of Vilppula to form Mänttä-Vilppula on 1 January 2009. Lake Ruovesi
Lake Ruovesi is a medium-sized lake in Central Finland. It is situated in the municipalities of Ruovesi and Mänttä-Vilppula in the Pirkanmaa region in western Finland. Besides the municipality, a local newspaper published in that municipality is also named Ruovesi. The lake is a part of the Kokemäki River basin and its main inflows are the Lake Tarjanne in north and the Lake Kuorevesi in the east. Virrat (; ) is a town and municipality of Finland. Part of the Pirkanmaa region, it is located north of Tampere and west of Jyväskylä. Virrat is from Helsinki. Pohjaslahti
Pohjaslahti is a village and former municipality of Finland at the time of its existence in the Häme Province, now in the Pirkanmaa region. It was divided between Vilppula and Virrat in 1973. Pohjaslahti was the last rural municipality to be created in Finland, which happened in 1941. It bordered Vilppula, Ruovesi, Virrat and Keuruu. It also bordered Pihlajavesi until 1969, when it was merged into Keuruu. History Pohjaslahti has existed at least since 1564, when it was mentioned as ''Pohialaxi''.
