Genres Sega Séga is a popular style that mixes African and European music. Maloya Maloya has a strong African element reflected in the use of slave chants and work songs. Réunion
Réunion (; ; ; known as before 1848) is an island in the Indian Ocean that is an overseas departments and regions of France, overseas department and region of France. Daniel Hoareau (born 10 May 1955 in Le Tampon (Réunion, France), better known by his stage name Danyèl Waro, is a French musician, singer-songwriter and poet of Maloya. Biography Danyèl Waro is a symbol of the revival of maloya music. Maloya, officially banned, was played by only a few people. He fell in love with this music during a Firmin Viry concert in 1970. Firmin became his mentor. Ralé-poussé
The ralé-poussé is a diatonic accordion played on the island of Réunion in the southwest Indian Ocean. It is played in the Creole music of the 20th century. The name refers to the "push-pull" motion of diatonic playing, which distinguishes the instrument's playing style as it rhythmically swaps between the "push" set of notes and "pull" set of notes. Run Vibes
''Run Vibes'' was a music television show that aired from 2005 to 2009 on Réseau Outre-Mer 1re, Télé Réunion on Réunion Island. Hosted by Rodee Cox, the show featured the Music of Réunion, including Hip Hop, Reggae, Dancehall, breakdance and traditional music from Réunion (so sega music, sega and maloya). It has led to participation of national and international artists. Many artists have made appearances on the set of Run Vibes, before being known in international circles. Mapou
Mapou is a village in northern Mauritius, located in Rivière du Rempart District. The village is administered by the Mapou Village Council under the aegis of the Rivière du Rempart District Council. According to the census by Statistics Mauritius in 2011, the population was 1,275. Places of interest The village is mostly known for being home to The Château de Labourdonnais, a colonial house dating from 1859 and which sits on a property dating from 1777. The house has been converted to a museum about colonial life in the island of Mauritius and a restaurant. Other facilities on the domain include the gardens and orchards and the "Rhumerie des Mascareignes" Rum distillery which produces the "La Bourdonnais" and "Rhumeur" brands of rum.
