Morehouse is a town in Hamilton County, New York, United States. The population was 92 at the 2020 census. The name is that of an early developer, Andrew K. Morehouse. The town is in the Adirondack Park. It is in the southwestern corner of the county and is northeast of Utica. History Morehouse was formed from part of the town of Lake Pleasant in 1835. Morehouse ("Morehouseville") was created by land developer and entrepreneur Andrew King Morehouse (1805-1884); the post office there opened on April 9, 1834. (Morehouse owned of wilderness in Hamilton, Herkimer and Saratoga counties, but ultimately ended up dying in a poorhouse.) Part of the town was later taken and added to the town of Long Lake. Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is an independent and private historically-Black medical school in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally a part of Morehouse College, the school became independent in 1981. History MSM was established at the suggestion of several Atlanta community doctors who saw the disparities and outcomes for black patients in Georgia. They approached Morehouse College president Hugh Gloster, who formed a committee in 1970, to analyze the feasibility of a medical school as part of the Atlanta University Center complex campus, that included Clark Atlanta University, Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse College, Morris Brown College, and Spelman College. Comet Morehouse
Comet Morehouse (modern formal designation: C/1908 R1) was a bright, non-periodic comet discovered by US astronomer Daniel Walter Morehouse on September 1, 1908 (the discovery photograph was taken on September 1, but the comet was not noticed until the following day), at Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Morehouse was a graduate student at the time. It was unusual in the rapid variations seen in the structure of its tail. At times, the tail seemed to split into up to six separate tails; at others, the tail appeared completely detached from the head of the comet. The tail was further unusual in that it formed while the comet was still 2 AU away from the Sun (where distances of 1.5 AU are more usual), and that there was a high concentration of the CO+ ion in its spectrum. More House is the Catholic chaplaincy for the University of York in Heslington, York. The building itself dates from the late 18th century. The chaplains were formerly Carmelite friars resident in the building, but since 2021 priests from York Oratory have been ministering to the chaplaincy. It is located on Main Street in Heslington, which is towards the south edge of the university's Campus West. It is a Grade II listed building. History In the late 18th century, the house was constructed. From 1809 to 1814, Sydney Smith lived there while his rectory in Foston was being rebuilt.
