FC Mondercange
Football Club Mondercange is a football club, based in Mondercange, in south-western Luxembourg. In the 2005–06 season, Mondercange finished third in the Division of Honour. This qualified Mondercange for a play-off with FC Avenir Beggen, which they won, granting them promotion into the National Division. They were relegated the following season from the National Division, back to the Division of Honour. In 2008–09 the club finished 2nd in the Division of Honour and were promoted to the National Division. The National Division (, , ), known as the BGL Ligue for sponsorship reasons, is the highest association football, football league in Luxembourg. Until 2011, it was known as the BGL Ligue, after the Luxembourg Football Federation managed to seal a sponsorship deal with Fortis (finance), Fortis. Hubert Loutsch (18 November 1878 – 24 June 1946) was a Luxembourgish politician. He served as prime minister of Luxembourg for 16 weeks, from 6 November 1915 until 24 February 1916. Esch-sur-Alzette (canton)
Esch-sur-Alzette () is a canton in southwestern Luxembourg. It is both the second most populous and second most densely populated canton after the canton of Luxembourg. It borders Belgium & France. History Like the other cantons of Luxembourg, the canton of Esch dates back to 31 August 1795. However, it was created under the name of the canton of Soleuvre. This term was of short duration since, already on 22 October 1796, a new decree renamed it the canton of Bascharage. Bascharage canton was less spread-out than the current canton of Esch since Leudelange, Pontpierre, Bettembourg and Dudelange belonged to the canton of Hesperange, created to the south of the capital. Schifflange
Schifflange (; , , , ) is a commune and town in south-western Luxembourg. It is part of the canton of Esch-sur-Alzette. , the commune has a population of 11,363. Schifflange was formed on 15 August 1876, when it was detached from the commune of Esch-sur-Alzette. The law forming Schifflange was passed on the 6 July 1876. Steelworks A steelworks in Schifflange was founded in 1871 by the Metz family as ''Usine METZ (Esch-Schifflange)'', the steelworks became part of ARBED in 1911. In the 1980s the plant was converted to the continuous casting of blooms, then in the 1990s an electric furnace installed. In 1994 the company merged with the Belgian company '' Métallurgique et Minière de Rodange-Athus'' (MMRA) forming ARES (''Aciéries Rodange Esch-Schifflange'').
