This is a list of the members (academicians) of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). CAE academician is the highest academic title officially recognized by the Chinese government in engineering and technological sciences. As of February 2025, the academy has 1014 living members, divided into nine academic divisions: * Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering: 135 members * Information and Electronic Engineering: 148 members * Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering: 118 members * Energy and Mining Engineering: 133 members * Civil and Hydraulic Engineering and Architecture: 109 members * Light Industry and Environmental Engineering: 75 members * Agriculture: 91 members * Medicine and Health: 134 members * Engineering Management: 71 members There are 348 deceased members as of February 2025. Chinese Academy Of Engineering
The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE, ) is the national academy of the People's Republic of China for engineering. It was established in 1994 and is an institution of the State Council of China. The CAE and the Chinese Academy of Sciences are often referred to together as the "Two Academies". Its current president is Li Xiaohong. Since its establishment, CAE has provided consultancy to the State on key programs, planning, guidelines, and policies at the request of government ministries and commissions. In response to requests from central and local government ministries, the academy has mobilized its members to conduct surveys, offer strategic opinions, and make proposals. These projects have been instrumental in enhancing member participation in the State's major decision-making processes. Gu Songfen
Gu Songfen (; born 4 February 1930) is a Chinese aircraft designer. He participated in the design of the Shenyang JJ-1, China's first jet trainer. He was the chief designer of the Shenyang J-8 and J-8II, China's first high-speed, high-altitude interceptor fighter jets. He served as vice president and chief designer of the Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute and is an academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Early life Gu was born 4 February 1930 in Suzhou, Jiangsu, Republic of China. He is the youngest son of Gu Tinglong (), a well known sinologist and calligrapher. His given name "Songfen" comes from a passage of the 3rd-century treatise '' Wen fu'' written by Lu Ji. Ji Guobiao
Ji Guobiao (; 1 March 1932 – 5 September 2019) was a Chinese chemical engineer and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). He was a pioneer of chemical fiber engineering technology in China. Early life and education Ji was born in Wuxi, Jiangsu, in March 1932. He studied at Donglin Academy and Furen High School. After the liberation of Shanghai in 1949, he was accepted to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he majored in the Department of Industrial Management and Department of Textile Dyeing and Chemical Industry. In 1951, due to the adjustment of the faculty, he became a new transfer student at East China Institute of Textile Science and Technology (now Donghua University). Huang Xuhua
Huang Xuhua (; 12 March 1926 – 6 February 2025) was a Chinese mechanical engineer, and the second chief designer for the country's first generation of nuclear submarines ( Type 091 and Type 092). He was director emeritus of the Wuhan-based 719 Research Institute (Nuclear Submarine Institute) of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and was an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. His name was classified until 1987. Huang was bestowed the Medal of the Republic, the highest honorary medal of the People's Republic of China, in September 2019. Hu Qiheng
Hu Qiheng (born 1934) is a Chinese computer scientist. Hu was the vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1987 to 1996 and led the National Computing and Networking Facility of China, which connected China to the Internet in April 1994. Hu was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame in 2013 as a global connector. Hu was a member of the 8th and 9th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
