Arunan Arulampalam
Arunan Arulampalam (born September 15, 1985) is an American politician who is the mayor of Hartford, Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party, Arulampalam won the November 2023 election for mayor and was sworn in on January 1, 2024. Early life and career Arulampalam is from a Sri Lankan Tamil family from Jaffna. His parents fled Sri Lanka in July 1983, during Black July at the start of the Sri Lankan Civil War. They moved to England, where they married, and settled in Zimbabwe. Arunan was born in Bulawayo in 1985. The family relocated to California. Arulampalam earned his bachelor's degree from Emory University and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law. In 2014, Arulampalam joined the law firm Updike, Kelly & Spellacy and was an associate with the firm for five years. Lieutenant Governor Of Connecticut
The lieutenant governor of Connecticut is the second highest executive officer of the government of the U.S. State of Connecticut. The lieutenant governor acts as President of the State Senate, presiding over the Senate and casting votes in the event of a tie. They are elected to serve four-year terms and run on the same ticket as the governor as running mate with no term limits. They are the first in the gubernatorial line of succession of Connecticut and serve as acting governor in the absence of the governor and as governor for the remainder of the term in the event the governor dies, resigns, or is removed from office. Morgan Gardner Bulkeley (December 26, 1837 – November 6, 1922) was an American politician of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, businessman, and insurance executive. In 1876, he served as the first president of baseball's National League (baseball), National League and, because of that, was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937, a choice that remains controversial, since his time as a baseball executive was short. Henry Leavitt Ellsworth (November 10, 1791 – December 27, 1858) was a Yale-educated attorney who became the first Commissioner of the U.S. Patent Office, where he encouraged innovation by inventors Samuel F.B. Thomas Scott Williams (June 26, 1777 – December 15, 1861) was a U.S. Representative from Connecticut. Born in Wethersfield, Connecticut, Williams completed preparatory studies. He was graduated from Yale College in 1794. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1799 and commenced practice in Mansfield, Connecticut. He moved to Hartford, Connecticut, in 1803. He was appointed attorney of the board of managers of the school fund of Hartford 1809–1810. He served in the State house of representatives in 1813, 1815, and 1816. He served as clerk of the house in 1815 and 1816. Williams was elected as a Federalist to the Fifteenth Congress (March 4, 1817 – March 3, 1819).
