Marahoué
Marahoué Region is one of the 31 regions of Ivory Coast and is one of two regions in Sassandra-Marahoué District. The region's seat is Bouaflé. The region's area is 8,680 km2, and its population in the 2021 census was 981,180. Departments Marahoué Region is currently divided into five Departments of Ivory Coast, departments: Bonon Department, Bonon, Bouaflé Department, Bouaflé, Gohitafla Department, Gohitafla, Sinfra Department, Sinfra, and Zuénoula Department, Zuénoula. History Marahoué Region was created in 1997 as a first-level administrative region of the country. In 2000, Oumé Department was split off from Marahoué and combined with Gagnoa Department from Haut-Sassandra Region to form Fromager Region. Bouaflé Department
Bouaflé Department is a department of Marahoué Region in Sassandra-Marahoué District, Ivory Coast. In 2021, its population was 300,305 and its seat is the settlement of Bouaflé. The sub-prefectures of the department are Bégbessou, Bouaflé, N'Douffoukankro, Pakouabo, and Tibéita. History Bouaflé Department was created in 1969 as one of the 24 new departments that were created to take the place of the six departments that were being abolished. It was created from territory that was formerly part of Centre Department. Using current boundaries as a reference, the department occupied the same territory that is today Marahoué Region. Zuénoula Department
Zuénoula Department is a department of Marahoué Region in Sassandra-Marahoué District, Ivory Coast. In 2021, its population was 184,882 and its seat is the settlement of Zuénoula. The sub-prefectures of the department are Iriéfla, Kanzra, Vouéboufla, and Zanzra. History Zuénoula Department was created in 1980 as first-level subdivision via a split-off from Bouaflé Department. In 1991, regions were introduced as new first-level subdivisions of Ivory Coast; as a result, all departments were converted into second-level subdivisions. Zuénoula Department was included in Centre-Ouest Region. In 1996, this region was split in two and Zuénoula Department was transferred to the Bouaflé Region, renamed Marahoué Region in 1997.
