Maradi Region
The Region of Maradi is one of seven Regions of Niger, regions of Niger. It is located in south-central Niger, east of the Region of Tahoua Region, Tahoua, west of Zinder Region, Zinder, and north of the Nigerian city of Katsina. The administrative centre is at Maradi, Niger, Maradi. The population of the Region is predominantly Hausa people, Hausa. History In 2021, a Niger gold mine collapse, large gold mine collapse in the region killed 18 miners. Geography Maradi borders Agadez Region to the north, Zinder Region to the east, Nigeria to the south (specifically the states of Katsina State, Katsina, Zamfara State, Zamfara and Sokoto State, Sokoto), and Tahoua Region to the west. Regions Of Niger
Niger is divided into seven regions (French: ''régions;'' singular''région)'', each of which is named after its capital. Additionally, the national capital, Niamey, comprises a capital district. Sahara
The Sahara (, ) is a desert spanning across North Africa. With an area of , it is the largest hot desert in the world and the list of deserts by area, third-largest desert overall, smaller only than the deserts of Antarctica and the northern Arctic. Dakoro
Dakoro is a town and commune located in the Maradi Region of Niger. As of 2012, it had a population of 71,201. It is the capital of the Dakoro Department. Geography Dakoro is located in the Sahel. The neighbouring communes are Azagor to the north and Birni Lallé to the east, south and west. To the north of the town centre is the Tarka Valley, which extends into Nigeria. The formerly more diverse flora on the sandy soils of Dakoro is - due to recurring droughts and human settlement - essentially only characterised by acacias and balanites. The municipality of Dakoro consists of an urban and a rural area. The urban area is divided into several neighbourhoods.
