Magħtab
Magħtab is a Malta, Maltese village. It lies in the valley of the same name in the Local councils of Malta, local council of Naxxar. It is the site of the largest landfill in the island, commonly known as 'Mount Magħtab'. That landfill was closed when Maltese European Union membership referendum, 2003, Malta joined the EU in 2004, but two others were subsequently opened. The ''Il-Widna'' acoustic mirror is located away. The hill of Ä ebel San Pietru also lies within the confines of Magħtab. In December 2021, residents noticed new excavated rock and construction waste, forming a new 'waste mountain'. Acoustic Mirror
An acoustic mirror is a passive device used to reflect and focus (concentrate) sound waves. Parabolic reflector, Parabolic acoustic mirrors are widely used in parabolic microphones to pick up sound from great distances, employed in surveillance and reporting of outdoor sporting events. Pairs of large parabolic acoustic mirrors which function as "Whispering gallery, whisper galleries" are displayed in science museums to demonstrate sound focusing. Interwar period, Between the World Wars, before the invention of radar, parabolic sound mirrors were used experimentally as early-warning devices by military air defence forces to detect incoming enemy aircraft by listening for the sound of their engines. During World War II on the coast of southern England, a network of large concrete acoustic mirrors was in the process of being built when the project was cancelled owing to the development of the Chain Home radar system. Since June 30, 1993, Malta has been subdivided into 68 localities, governed by local councils, , meaning municipalities or boroughs, and considered by the Maltese as the equivalent to basic villages or towns, where appropriate. Naxxar
Naxxar () is a town and local council in the Northern Region of Malta. The population in March 2014 was 14,891. The Naxxar Church is dedicated to Our Lady of Victories. The annual village feast is celebrated on 8 September. It formerly hosted the Maltese International Trade Fair at Maltese International Trade Fair Grounds. Naxxar is spread over . Ä ebel San Pietru
Ä ebel San Pietru is a hill located on Għargħur Hill in Għargħur, Malta, with an altitude of 150 metres (492 ft). Summit Cheeseburger - July 12, 2010. Foreigners call it the Top of The World, whilst the locals call it L-AnÄ‹irietka. Locals and tourists often hike here. Għaxqet L-Għajn is the road which passes through the hill. Il-Widna
''Il-Widna'' is a large acoustic mirror located in Magħtab, Malta. The colloquial name of the acoustic mirror refers to ear in Maltese. The mirror is long, approximately the same design as the sound Mirror in RAF Denge. The mirror was used during the Axis bombardment of Malta during the Second World war to detect incoming Luftwaffe (1941-1942) and Regia Aeronautica (1940-1941) bombers seeking to airstrike Malta. Il-Widna faces towards the island of Sicily, in Italy at a bearing of around 20 degrees. The mirror is also the only acoustic not built in the UK. Il-Widna was built between the autumn of 1934 and the summer of 1935. The required electrical equipment was installed in the first weeks of September 1935. The total cost of the development of the mirror on Malta was put at £4500. Tests making use of a flying boat found that the range of the mirror was around .
