Lowen (band)
Lowen are an English heavy metal band formed in 2017 by Nina Saeidi and Shem Lucas. The daughter of refugees of the Iranian Revolution in England, Saeidi wished to start an act that would allow her to perform metal with Middle Eastern elements. The duo was formed after meeting at an Akercocke show and they have released one EP and two albums, the latest being ''Do Not Go to War With the Demons of Mazandaran'' (2024). History The band was formed in 2017 by Nina Saeidi (lead vocals, folk instruments, lyrics; born Iranians in the United Kingdom, to parents who fled the Iranian Revolution) and Shem Lucas (guitars, bass) after they met at an Akercocke show. The name Lowen is partially inspired by the Lion Hunt of Ashurbanipal and constitutes "a Language change, bastardisation of the wiktionary:Löwe, Germanic word for lion", according to Saeidi. Lewin Brzeski (; ) is a historic town situated in Brzeg County, Opole Voivodeship, south-western Poland. The total population of Lewin Brzeski was estimated at 5,736 inhabitants in 2019. History Located along the medieval trade routes from Silesia to Hungary, by the Amber Road and the Eastern Neisse river, the town of Lewin first developed in the Middle Ages as a market town, located within the Piast-ruled Kingdom of Poland and as a result of the fragmentation of Poland it became part of the duchies of Opole, Brzeg and Legnica. It is first mentioned in a contract from 1257, when a monastery run by the Knights Hospitaller in Łosiów purchased a mill near the town. Its name is of Old Polish origin and refers to hunting. Albert of Louvain (1166 – 24 November 1192) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church and the Prince-Bishop of Liège. He was canonized as a saint on 9 August 1613 and his feast falls on the date of his death. Biography Albert de Louvain was born in 1166 as the second of two sons to Duke Godfrey III, Count of Leuven, and his first wife Margareta van Limburg. He was the brother of Henry I, Duke of Brabant. Eduard Löwen (; born 28 January 1997) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club St. Louis City SC. Club career Löwen began his club career with 1. FC Nürnberg in 2016–2017, playing 14 games with the reserve squad and 11 with the primary club in 2. Bundesliga.
