Luv' Songs
Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe (Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway and Finland) as well as Israel, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original members were Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. In 1979, Luv' was 'Holland's best export act' and thus received the Conamus Export Prize. The band sold more than seven million records worldwide (singles and albums). Among their greatest hits were: " U.O.Me (Welcome to Waldolala)", "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse", " Casanova" and " Ooh, Yes I Do". The formation went through line-up changes and the original singers reunited several times. They gave a farewell performance on 11 August 2012 in Spaarnwoude at the Dutch Valley Festival. Patty Brard
Petula Louise "Patty" Brard (born March 25, 1955) is a Dutch singer, television personality, actress and entrepreneur, most notable for being a former member of the girl group Luv'. For five decades, she has often hit the headlines of the tabloid journalism, tabloid press. In the late 1970s, Luv' scored a string of international hit records such as "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse (Luv' song), Trojan Horse", "Casanova (Luv' song), Casanova" and "Ooh, Yes I Do" on the charts. Brard left Luv' in 1980 and went on to release a series of solo studio albums throughout the 1980s. The group reunited on several occasions. Since 1983, Brard has been active on television as a host/presenter. Carina Lemoine
Carina Lemoine (born 1969, Helmond, Netherlands) is a Dutch pop female singer. She was a member of the girl group Luv' from 1990 to 1992. She scored with the female formation a minor hit song: He's My Guy. After Luv' disbanded in 1992, she formed with Diana van Berlo the short-lived girl duo Lady's D.C. She later went solo. Early years Carina started her career as a singer when she was eight years old. She was discovered by the producers of BZN and Saskia & Serge. As a teenager, she recorded some singles: "I love disco" (at age 12), "O lieve pappa" (at age 13), "Mama hij wilt zo graag een zoen" (at age 15) and "The hour comes nigh" (when she was 17). In the meantime, she did many live performances. Spaarnwoude
Spaarnwoude is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer and lies about northeast of Haarlem. Overview The village was first mentioned in the first half of the 11th century as Spirnerewalt, and means "forest along the Spaarne river". The former Dutch Reformed church dates from 1764, but has a tower from the 13th century. It was decommissioned in 1880, but is still used for cultural activities. North of Spaarnwoude lies the Spaarnwoude recreation area, which is located in the municipalities of Velsen and Haarlemmermeer. There is a railway station, Haarlem Spaarnwoude, which lies southwest of the village. An IKEA shop is nearby, on the north side. To the east of IKEA is the Veerplas. "Ooh, Yes I Do" is the ninth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in the autumn of 1979 by CNR/Carrere Records. The song appears on the group's 1979 third studio album True Luv'. It was a hit in Benelux, Denmark, France, Germany and Austria. The Spanish version of the record turned gold in Mexico. Background In the summer of 1979, Luv' and their producers and songwriters (Hans van Hemert and Piet Souer) decided to leave Philips Records, Philips/Phonogram Records (which had released the group's records for two years). José Hoebee, Patty Brard, Marga Scheide and their team signed a 750,000 Dutch Guilder contract with CNR affiliated to Carrere Records on October 7, 1979. "Casanova" is the sixth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in the spring of 1979 by Philips Records. This song appears on the formation's second album, Lots Of Luv', and was a Top 10 single in a large part of Continental Europe, maintaining Luv's position as the best Dutch export act of 1979. Background After the success of the hit singles U.O.Me, You're the Greatest Lover and Trojan Horse as well as the album With Luv' in 1978, Philips/Phonogram Records released in April 1979 the new single, "Casanova", as a foretaste of the Lots Of Luv' LP. "Trojan Horse" is the fifth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in autumn 1978 by Philips/Phonogram Records. This million-seller appears on some editions of the group's debut album, With Luv' (1978), and was a successful hit record in a large part of continental Europe, Israel, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Argentina and New Zealand. It was a minor hit in Australia and Canada. The single was remixed in 2006, 2015 and 2022. Background This song is the follow-up single to "You're the Greatest Lover" and uses a bagpipe theme. The Buma Export Award (initially known as Conamus Export Award) was a prize given to the Dutch artists who sold the most records abroad between 1972 and 2011. In 2013, this prize was replaced by the Buma ROCKS! Export Award that focused on rock artists and the Buma Award Internationaal (that has been awarded to the best-selling and most played songs involving Dutch recording artists, songwriters and publishers with international success).
