Louisiana Tech Bulldogs And Lady Techsters
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Lady Techsters, commonly abbreviated LA Tech and Dogs, refer to the sports teams of Louisiana Tech University, in Ruston, Louisiana. The teams compete in NCAA Division I, Division I of National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA sports. Since 2013, Louisiana Tech has been a member of Conference USA (CUSA). Louisiana Tech University
Louisiana Tech University (Louisiana Tech, La. Tech, or simply Tech) is a public university, public research university in Ruston, Louisiana, United States. It is part of the University of Louisiana System and Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". Louisiana Tech opened as the Industrial Institute and College of Louisiana in 1894 during the Second Industrial Revolution. The original mission of the college was for the education of students in the arts and sciences for the purpose of developing an industrial economy in post-Reconstruction Era, Reconstruction Louisiana. Four years later in 1898, the state constitution changed the school's name to Louisiana Industrial Institute. Mike Jeffcoat
James Michael Jeffcoat (born August 3, 1959) is an American retired professional baseball manager, former head coach in college baseball, and former professional player. He pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1983 and 1994 for four different teams. Playing career Jeffcoat was first selected in the 1977 MLB draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, but did not sign. He played college baseball for Louisiana Tech. He was selected in the 1980 MLB draft by the Cleveland Indians, whom he signed with. Jeffcoat's professional playing career began in 1980 and ended in 1994, doing which he pitched in 283 games in Minor League Baseball, compiling an 85–59 win–loss record. At the Triple-A level, he had a 58–36 record with 3.91 earned run average (ERA) in 215 games (97 starts). Jeffcoat pitched in 255 major-league games during parts of 10 seasons. David Segui
David Vincent Segui, (; born July 19, 1966) is an American former Major League Baseball first baseman. Segui was born in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of former Major League baseball pitcher Diego Seguí. He played collegiate baseball for Louisiana Tech and Kansas City Kansas Community College. During a 15-year baseball career, Segui played with the Baltimore Orioles, New York Mets, Montreal Expos, Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians. In 1,456 games over 15 seasons, Segui posted a .291 batting average (1412-for-4847) with 683 runs, 284 doubles, 139 home runs, 684 RBI, 524 bases on balls, .359 on-base percentage and .443 slugging percentage. Southland Bowling League
The Southland Bowling League (SBL) was a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) bowling-only conference. The SBL was founded in 2015 for schools that sponsor women's bowling teams, but did not have bowling sponsored by their primary conferences. The SBL champion received an automatic bid to the NCAA Bowling Championship since the NCAA first awarded such bids in 2018. While the conference operated independently, administrative services were provided by the Southland Conference. The SBL merged into Conference USA (CUSA) after the 2022–23 season, with CUSA inheriting the SBL's automatic championship berth. Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters Softball
The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters softball team represents Louisiana Tech University in NCAA Division I college softball. The team participates in Conference USA. They are currently coached by head coach Josh Taylor. They play home games at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.
