''Lewis'' is a British television Detective fiction, detective drama produced for ITV (TV network), ITV, first airing in 2006 (Television pilot, pilot) then 2007 (series 1). It is a spin-off from ''Inspector Morse (TV series), Inspector Morse'' and, like that series, it is set in Oxford. USS ''Lewis'' (DE-535) was a in service with the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 and from 1952 to 1960. She was finally sunk as a target in 1966. Namesake Victor Alan Lewis was born on 2 August 1919 in Somerville, Massachusetts. He graduated from Stetson High School in Randolph, Massachusetts, and attended Springfield College. Before graduating he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve as a Seaman 2d class and reported for duty to the Squantum Naval Reserve Aviation Base, Boston, for flight training on 17 February 1941. The Saturn family of 4-bit ( datapath) microprocessors was developed by Hewlett-Packard in the 1980s first for the HP-71B handheld computer, released in 1984, and later for various HP calculators (starting with the HP-18C). Lewis (satellite)
Lewis was an American satellite which was to have been operated by NASA as part of the Small Satellite Technology Initiative. It carried two experimental Earth imaging instruments, and an ultraviolet astronomy payload. Due to a design flaw it failed within three days of reaching orbit, before it became operational. Lewis was a spacecraft, which was designed to operate for between one and three years. It was built by TRW under a contract which was signed on 11 July 1994. Its primary instruments were the Hyperspectral Imager, the Linear Etalon Imaging Spectral Array and the Ultraviolet Cosmic Background experiment. A number of technology demonstration payloads were also flown. A lewis (sometimes called a lewisson) is one of a category of Lifting equipment, lifting devices used by stonemasons to lift large stones into place with a crane (machine), crane, Hoist (device), chain block, or winch. It is inserted into a specially prepared hole, or ''seating'', in the top of a stone, preferably above its centre of mass. Lewis is the name of a cat from Fairfield, Connecticut, who garnered mass media attention for being placed under house arrest in March 2006. At the time of his arrest Lewis was five years old, placing his birthdate between the years 2000 and 2001. Background Lewis is a polydactyl, domestic long-haired cat. Several of Fairfield's Sunset Circle residents, along with an Avon saleswoman, have accused the cat of attacking them. There were witnesses to some of the incidents who stated the attacks were unprovoked. Janet Kettman of Sunset Circle who was allegedly attacked twice by the cat even picked Lewis out of a line-up of black and white cats.
