Kokemäenjoki Basin
The Kokemäenjoki ("Kokemäki River", ) is a river in southwestern Finland. Geography The river originates at Lake Liekovesi in the Pirkanmaa region, and flows to the Gulf of Bothnia at Pori in the Satakunta region. Primary tributaries of the Kokemäenjoki are the Loimijoki, Kauvatsanjoki and Harjunpäänjoki rivers. The Kokemäenjoki river delta is the largest river delta in the Nordic countries and an important wildlife area. In May 2025, millions of young fish were released into the river as part of a major spring stocking effort. This included the release of 14,000 two-year-old Atlantic salmon, 18,000 two-year-old sea trout and more than six million newly hatched migratory whitefish from the Harjavalta hatchery. Kyrösjärvi is a medium-sized lake in Finland. It is situated in the municipalities of Ikaalinen, Hämeenkyrö and Ylöjärvi in the Pirkanmaa region in western Finland. Rautavesi is a medium-sized lake in Finland. It is located in the municipality of Sastamala in the Pirkanmaa region in western Finland. Its main inflow is the lake Kulovesi in the east and it drains into the lake Liekovesi through the Vammaskoski rapids in the west. Lake Liekovesi, in its turn drains into the Kokemäenjoki river. Kulovesi
Kulovesi is a medium-sized lake in Finland. It is situated in the area of the towns Nokia and Sastamala in the Pirkanmaa region. The lake is part of the Kokemäenjoki basin. The lake Pyhäjärvi drains through the Nokianvirta River into the Lake Kulovesi from the west and the lake Kyrösjärvi through a chain of lakes (last one being Mahnalanselkä – Kirkkojärvi) and the Siuronkoski rapids from the north near the Siuro village. The lake gathers waters from an area of 20 822 km2 that includes the whole upper part of the Kokemäenjoki basin. Kokemäki Castle
Kokemäki Castle (, ) was a Medieval castle in Kokemäki in the province of Satakunta in Finland. The time of its foundation is unclear, but the castle was most likely completed in 1324–25. It was demolished in 1367 by order of King Albert, as the local residents complained of heavy taxation for the upkeep of the castle.
