KBO League
The KBO League () is a professional baseball league in South Korea. The league comprises ten teams. The KBO League was founded with six franchises in 1982 and is the most popular sports league in South Korea. The Kia Tigers are the most successful team, having won 12 of the 43 championships. In comparison with American Major League Baseball, ESPN reports that the KBO level of play "appears to be somewhere between Double-A (baseball), Double-A and Triple-A (baseball), Triple-A, on average, though the best players are more likely to be MLB-quality than your typical Double-A league." Korea Baseball Organization
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO; ) is the Sport governing body, governing body for the professional leagues of baseball in South Korea. The KBO was founded in 1981 and has governed two leagues: the KBO League () and KBO Futures League ( (Farm team, farm league) since 1982. It is one of two major baseball governing bodies; the other is the Korea Baseball Association (), which is the governing body for Amateur sports, amateur baseball competitions. The KBO is a member of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), and is responsible for the South Korea national baseball team, national baseball team for the World Baseball Classic and Asia Series. The Korea Times
''The Korea Times'' () is a daily English-language newspaper in South Korea. It is a sister paper of the ''Hankook Ilbo'', a major Korean language, Korean-language daily. It is the oldest active daily English-language newspaper in South Korea. Since the late 1950s, it had been published by the Hankook Ilbo Media Group, but following an embezzlement scandal in 2013–2014 it was sold to Dongwha Group in 2015. Lotte Giants
The Lotte Giants () are a South Korean professional baseball, professional baseball team based in Busan. They are a member of the KBO League. The Lotte Giants are owned by Lotte Corporation. From 1982 through 1985, they played at Gudeok Baseball Stadium and since then have played at Sajik Baseball Stadium. They have won the Korean Series twice, in 1984 and 1992. Dongdaemun Stadium () was a sports complex in Seoul, South Korea, with a multi-purpose stadium, Dongdaemun Baseball Stadium, a baseball park and other sports facilities. It was located near Dongdaemun or Great East Gate. The surrounding Dongdaemun market had many vendors selling athletics-related goods. The LG Twins () are a South Korean professional baseball team based in Seoul, South Korea. They are a member of the KBO League. The Twins play their home games at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, which they share with their rivals, the Doosan Bears. The Samsung Lions () are a South Korean professional baseball team founded in 1982. They are based in the southeastern city of Daegu and are members of the KBO League. The designated hitter (DH) is a baseball player who bats in place of another position player, most commonly the pitcher.
