Judaism In Syria
Religion in Syria refers to the range of religions practiced by the citizens of Syria. Historically, the region has been a mosaic of diverse faiths with a range of different sects within each of these religious communities. The majority of Syrians are Muslims, of which the Sunnis are the most numerous (formed mostly of Arabs, Kurds, Turkmens, and Circassians), followed by the Alawites and other Shia groups (particularly Isma'ilis and Twelver Shi’ism), and Druze. In addition, there are several Christian minorities (including Antiochan Orthodox, Melkite Catholics, Armenian Apostolics, Armenian Catholics, Syriac Orthodox, Syriac Catholics, Assyrian Apostolic, Chaldean Catholics, Maronites, Latin Catholics, Roman Catholics, Protestants). Sunni Islam is the largest Islamic schools and branches, branch of Islam and the largest religious denomination in the world. It holds that Muhammad did not appoint any Succession to Muhammad, successor and that his closest companion Abu Bakr () rightfully succeeded him as the caliph of the Muslim community, being appointed at the meeting of Saqifa.
