The Medford Oregon Temple is the 79th operating Temple (LDS Church), temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The intent to build the temple was announced on March 15, 1999, by the church's First Presidency (LDS Church), First Presidency. It was the state's second, after the Portland Oregon Temple. The Shastan peoples are a group of linguistically related Native Americans in the United States, indigenous peoples from the Klamath Mountains in California and Oregon in the northwestern United States. Umpqua County, Oregon
Umpqua County was a county located in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was created on January 24, 1851, by the Oregon Territorial Legislature embracing the lands along the Umpqua River in southwestern Oregon. Gold had been discovered in the Umpqua region, which brought a rapid increase of settlers to the new county. The first meeting of the Umpqua County Court was in Elkton in 1852; later the county government was moved to Green Valley and Yoncalla. On January 7, 1852, the territorial legislature created Douglas County from the eastern part of Umpqua County. On December 22, 1853, part of the western portion of the county was included in the newly formed Coos County. Klickitat Tribe
The Klickitat (also spelled Klikitat) are a Native American tribe of the Pacific Northwest. Today most Klickitat are enrolled in the federally recognized Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, some are also part of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. A Shahaptian tribe, their eastern neighbors were the Yakama, who speak a closely related language. Their western neighbors were various Salishan and Chinookan tribes.
