Huntsville is a town in Muskoka district, Ontario. It is located north of Toronto and south of North Bay. Of the three major Muskoka towns (the others being Gravenhurst and Bracebridge), Huntsville has the largest population (21,147 per 2021 census) and land area (). Bracebridge, Ontario
Bracebridge is a town and the seat of the District Municipality of Muskoka in Ontario, Canada. The town was built around a waterfall on the Muskoka River in the centre of town and is known for its other nearby waterfalls (Wilson's Falls, High Falls, etc.). It was first incorporated in 1875. Northern And Pacific Junction Railway
The Northern and Pacific Junction Railway (N&PJ) is a historic railway located in northern Ontario, Canada. It connected the Northern Railway of Canada's endpoint in Gravenhurst to the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) at Nipissing Junction, near North Bay. The N&PJ provided an almost straight line north-south route from Toronto to the transcontinental line, competing with a similar line of the Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) a short distance to the west. The railway was incorporated in 1881 as the Northern, North-Western, and Sault Ste. Marie Railway Company, changing its name to N&PJ in 1883. The railway was acquired by the Northern Railway of Canada and the Hamilton and North-Western Railway in 1883. Captain George Hunt (1830 – February 26, 1882) is credited as the founder of Huntsville, Ontario, Canada in the region of Muskoka, where he settled in 1869. Biography He was born in 1830 on the Isle of Corfu off the coast of Greece to British Army Officer Robert Hunt and his wife Margaret. In 1840, the Hunt family moved to Canada, settling in Montreal, Province of Canada. In 1855 he was commissioned an Ensign, without purchase, in the 6th Foot. Ontario Highway 60
King's Highway 60, commonly referred to as Highway 60, is a provincially maintained highway in the Canadian province of Ontario. The highway serves as the primary corridor through Algonquin Provincial Park, where it is dedicated as the Frank McDougall Parkway.
