History Of Glenn County, California
Glenn County is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,917. The county seat is Willows. It is located in the Sacramento Valley, in the northern part of the California Central Valley. The Grindstone Rancheria, reservation of the Grindstone Indian Rancheria of Wintun-Wailaki Indians, is located in Glenn County. History Glenn County split from Colusa County in 1891. It was named for Dr. Hugh J. Glenn, who purchased in the northeast end of Rancho Jacinto in 1867. He became the largest wheat farmer in the state during his lifetime and a man of great prominence in political and commercial life in California. Rancho Jacinto
Rancho Jacinto was a Mexican land grant in present-day Glenn County, California given in 1844 by Governor Manuel Micheltorena to Jacinto Rodriguez. The grant extended along the west bank of the Sacramento River, and encompassed present-day Ordbend, Bayliss, Jacinto and Glenn. History Jacinto Rodríguez (1815–1880) was a civil and military officer of the Mexican Government in Monterey. Rodriguez received the eight square league Rancho Jacinto in 1844. He was not required to occupy the land, as his services were needed in the army. He was subsequently transferred from the military to the civil service, and worked until July, 1846, in the custom house at Monterey, except at intervals when he was called into military service. Colusa County () is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,839. The county seat is Colusa. It is in the northern Sacramento Valley, northwest of the state capital, Sacramento. History Colusa County is one of the original counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood.
