Hardcore (comics)
Lucas "Luke" Cage, born Carl Lucas and also known as Power Man, is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Archie Goodwin, George Tuska, Roy Thomas, and John Romita Sr. in 1972, he was the first African–American superhero by Marvel Comics to be the main character in his own series. Stories featuring Luke Cage often relate to issues of race and class. His origin invokes criticism of police brutality and the prison system in the United States, and his 1970s stories focus on his efforts to support himself as a businessman. His creators were initially inspired by Blaxploitation cinema and subsequently by the Black Power movement. The character was intensely masculine and sexualized in his 20th century appearances, but these aspects were tempered as Cage's focus shifted to his life as a husband and father. Cage was introduced in ''Luke Cage, Hero for Hire'' #1 (June 1972); he was the first Black superhero to star in his own regular ti ...

Hardcore Mode
Permadeath or permanent death is a game mechanic in both tabletop games and video games in which player characters who lose all of their health are considered dead and cannot be used anymore. Depending on the situation, this could require the player to create a new character to continue, or completely restart the game potentially losing nearly all progress made. Other terms include persona death and player death. Some video games offer a hardcore mode that features this mechanic, rather than making it part of the core game. Permadeath contrasts with games that allow the player to continue in some manner, such as their character respawning at a checkpoint on "death", resurrection of their character by a magic item or spell, or being able to load and restore a saved game state to avoid the death situation. The mechanic is frequently associated with both tabletop and computer-based role-playing games, and is considered an essential element of the roguelike genre of video games. T ...

This Is Hardcore
''This Is Hardcore'' is the sixth studio album by English rock band Pulp, released on 30 March 1998. Following the success of '' Different Class'' (1995), friction grew in the band, culminating in the departure of the guitarist and violinist Russell Senior. After reconciling with the band, work on the album began in November 1996 and finished in January 1998. Lead single " Help the Aged" was released on 10 November 1997, followed by " This Is Hardcore" on 11 March 1998. After the album's release on 30 March, two more singles were released: " A Little Soul" on 8 June and " Party Hard" on 7 September. As with the band's previous album, ''This is Hardcore'' received generally positive reviews from critics and debuted at No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart, but with far fewer sales, and earned Pulp a third successive nomina ...

I took the term from gaming; if you die you die but it's all in. I also wanted to make the track sound drunk, like when you're lost in a person. That's why we made the tempo-shifts before each chorus. The production is so good on this one, it blows my mind."
