Hampton Bioregion
Hampton is an interim Australian bioregion located in southeastern coastal Western Australia, with a small portion (4%) extending into adjacent South Australia. It has an area of . The Hampton bioregion is part of the Coolgardie woodlands ecoregion. Geography The bioregion includes a coastal plain, known as the Roe Plains, covered by extensive marine dunes, with a limestone escarpment, known as the Hampton Tableland or Hampton Range, emerging to the north of the dune fields. Hampton Wick
Hampton Wick is a Thamesside area of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, England, contiguous with Teddington, Kingston upon Thames and Bushy Park. Market gardening continued until well into the twentieth century. With its road and rail connections to London along the M4 corridor, it is within the London commuter belt. Although north of the River Thames, the area forms part of the Kingston upon Thames and Molesey, East Molesey post towns based on the south side of the river. As the river flows north past Hampton Wick and Kingston, it is actually west of Kingston. History There is evidence of Roman Britain, Roman occupation. Hampton is a village in Rock Island County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,779 at the time of the 2020 census. down from 1,863 at the 2010 census. History The village was originally in territory claimed by the Sauk and Meskwaki Native Americans, and several Woodland era Native mounds are located in the village limits, and in the adjacent Illiniwek Forest Preserve. The village in 1834 was platted as "Milan" (not the village 13 miles south-southwest in Illinois—see Milan, Illinois for more). The "paper town" did not sell initially because of the swampy riverfront, and being adjacent to the north end of the Rock Island Rapids. However, settlers drained the swamps by the end of the 19th century, and the village was founded by 1900 as Hampton— the original name of Milan, Illinois. Hampton is a city in southwestern Henry County, Georgia, United States. The population as of the 2020 census was 8,368. It is a southeastern suburb in the Atlanta metropolitan area. History The city was once known as "Bear Creek" or "Bear Creek Station", named after a creek that runs through the area. The town was moved, established and renamed in 1873 when the Central Railroad of Georgia was built approx. one mile to the east. It was named after Brig. Hampton is a city in Bradford County, Florida, United States. It is located in North Florida. The population was 432 at the 2020 census. History Early history In 1859, Hampton was first settled as a community called "''Crossroads''", and was officially incorporated as the "''Town of Crossroads''" in 1870, but later renamed the "''Town of Hampton''" in 1882. It had to be reincorporated as a municipality twice for allowing its municipal charter to lapse in 1911, and in 1925, when it became known as the "City of Hampton". At the time, it was at the junction of the Georgia Southern and Florida Railway and the Seaboard Air Line Railroad with stations for both. In the mid-1990s, Hampton annexed a short stretch of U.S. Highway 301 west of the city in order to obtain revenue from traffic tickets issued to motorists driving on that highway. Budbrooke is a village and civil parish in the Warwick district of Warwickshire, England. It is 3 miles west of Warwick and according to the 2001 census the parish had a population of 2,319, reducing to 1,863 at the 2011 Census. Most of the population of Budbrooke live in Hampton Magna, a housing estate built in the late 1960s, with other smaller settlements in Budbrooke Village and Hampton on the Hill. History Middle Ages The original parish dates from 1086 (Domesday Book) when Ralph de Limesi held Budebroc for William the Conqueror. It consisted of five hides of land, a mill, farms and woods. It was one mile long and three furlongs wide. The parish church of St. Michael dates from the twelfth century. In 1350, the village suffered from the Black Death and became a ghost town. Hampton in Arden is a village and civil parish located in the Forest of Arden in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, in the West Midlands of England. Hampton in Arden was part of Warwickshire until the 1974 boundary changes. It lies within the Meriden Gap which is an area of countryside between Solihull and Coventry. Hampton is an area of Evesham in Worcestershire, England having formerly been a separate village. It is linked to the nearby town of Evesham by the ancient Hampton Ferry. It was a string of small hamlets on the same side of the Avon: Great Hampton, Bengeworth station, Eastwick, and Little Hampton. History The area around Hampton was historically part of the lands of Evesham Abbey. The current parish church, St Andrew's, dates to the late 14th and early 15th centuries. Hampton Lucy is a village and civil parish on the River Avon, northeast of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire England. The population of the civil parish as taken at the 2011 census was 566. History The grammar school at Hampton Lucy was founded and endowed by the Rev. Richard Hill, curate of Hampton Lucy, in the 11th year of the reign of Charles I of England. In 1867, the school had two departments; the upper department had some boarding school students who were each charged 8 pounds, 8 shillings per year. The school closed and was replaced by the Hampton Lucy Grammar School Foundation, which is a charity providing educational grants to children and young persons residing in the parishes of Hampton Lucy, Charlecote, Wasperton or Alveston. Hampton Loade
Hampton Loade is a hamlet in Shropshire, England along the Severn Valley. It is situated on the east bank of the River Severn at , some five miles south of Bridgnorth. The unusual current-operated Hampton Loade Ferry, a reaction ferry to the hamlet of Hampton on the west bank, is responsible for Hampton Loade's name, as ''Loade'' is derived from ''lode'', an old English word for ferry. However, the ferry has not been run since 2016, prompting speculation that it is permanently closed. This has not been confirmed by any reliable news sources, but according to the Severn Valley Railway it has ceased operation. The hamlet is notable for the forge that stood there from 1608 to 1922. There are remnants of the forge still standing beside the river and in the houses. "Old Forge House" is where the owner of the forge lived and it is stated that there were over 6 owners of the forge in the 306 years of its use.
