Grainger Falls
Grainger Falls is a waterfall in Fiordland, New Zealand. It is a combination of a tiered and fan type waterfall. Grainger Falls was first recorded by Andreas Reischek, an Austrian who explored New Zealand in the 1880s. He named the waterfall after his friend Alfred Grainger. Its exact location was established on 6 February 2006, by Dr David Richards and Dr Roy Gordon Grainger. As the stream which drains Lake Hector and contains the waterfall was unnamed, the NZ Geographic Naming Board called it Grainger Stream. Grainger Stadium is a baseball stadium located in Kinston, North Carolina. It is the home ballpark for the Down East Bird Dawgs who competes in the Frontier League (FL), as well as the annual Freedom Classic between Navy and Air Force. It has a seating capacity of 3,400 people, and was previously home to the Kinston Indians and the Down East Wood Ducks until the arrival of the Bird Dawgs in 2025. History and naming The stadium is located at 400 East Grainger Avenue in Kinston. The original structure was built by architect John J. Rowland in 1949 at a cost of US$170,000 inclusive of everything except the land. Bonds were issued to raised $150,000 of the necessary money. Grainger Town is the historic commercial centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It covers approximately . Almost all of Grainger Town is in Newcastle's Central Conservation Area, one of the first designated in England. The area includes a medieval 13th-century Dominican priory, pieces of the historic Town Walls, and many fine Georgian and Victorian buildings. The Dolphus M. Grainger Generating Station was a coal power plant located near Conway, South Carolina in Horry County, South Carolina. The plant closed in 2012. It was owned by Central Electric Power Cooperative and operated by Santee Cooper. History Grainger was constructed at a cost of $52 million and unit 1 began generating electricity in 1965 and unit 2 began operation in 1966. The plant is named after Dolphus M. Grainger, a Horry County native who pushed for rural electrification. The power plant had 2 units and had an operating capacity of 170 megawatts ( MW). Its cooling source came from the nearby Waccamaw River and outlet to Lake Busbee which was created for the power plant. In 2004, Grainger along with several other coal plants owned by Santee Cooper were found to be in violation of the Clean Air Act.
