Games For Windows
Games for Windows is a former brand owned by Microsoft and introduced in 2006 to coincide with the release of the Windows Vista operating system. The brand itself represents a standardized technical certification program and online service for Windows games, bringing a measure of regulation to the PC game market in much the same way that console manufacturers regulate their platforms. The branding program was open to both first-party and third-party publishers. Games for Windows was promoted through convention kiosks and through other forums as early as 2005. The promotional push culminated in a deal with Ziff Davis Media to rename the ''Computer Gaming World'' magazine to '' Games for Windows: The Official Magazine''. The first ''GFW'' issue was published for November 2006. In 2008, Ziff Davis announced that the magazine would cease to be published, though online content would still be updated and maintained. Xbox Marketplace
Xbox Games Store (formerly Xbox Live Marketplace) was a digital distribution platform previously used by Microsoft's Xbox 360 and formerly by the Xbox One. The service allowed users to download or purchase video games (including both Xbox Live Arcade games and full Xbox 360 titles), add-ons for existing games, game demos along with other miscellaneous content such as gamer pictures and Dashboard themes. Xbox Live Marketplace launched alongside the Xbox 360 on November 22, 2005, with 400 pieces of content. It was rebranded to the Xbox game store on August 30, 2013 to prepare for the then upcoming launch of the Xbox One. Shadowrun (2007 Video Game)
''Shadowrun'' is a first-person shooter video game, developed by FASA Studio for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista. The game features a buying system which is inspired by the game ''Counter-Strike''. The game is also inspired by the role-playing game of the Shadowrun, same name. Gameplay ''Shadowruns multiplayer consists wholly of a First-person shooter, first-person/Third-person shooter, third-person deathmatch. Players choose various races with unique abilities. Additionally, a currency system dictates in-match upgrades, with each race given a different amount of starting capital. The four playable races are Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Troll. Magic is a key component to this game. Players can heal, damage, teleport, and summon to gain advantages over others. Additionally, gadgets, or "tech", are obtainable through currency. Windows Media Center
Windows Media Center (WMC) is a discontinued digital video recorder and media player created by Microsoft. Media Center was first introduced to Windows in 2002 on Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE). It was included in Home Premium and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista, as well as all editions of Windows 7 except Starter and Home Basic. It was also available on Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro as a paid add-on. It was discontinued as of Windows 10 and the operating system also removes all of Windows Media Center during an upgrade from previous versions of Windows, although it can reportedly be unofficially reinstalled using a series of Command Prompt commands.
