Finck Family
The Finck family is a German family and Banking families, banking dynasty which became prominent in Germany and Europe during the 19th and 20th century. Members of the family were involved with various companies, as early as 1790, when Burckhard Finck founded ''Finck & Schäfer'' in Bad Vilbel, a wholesale and retailer for liquor, oil, soap and colonial goods. The family became most notable through Wilhelm von Finck who was prominently associated with Merck Finck & Co, Merck, Finck & Co since 1870. He was also a co-founder of Allianz and Munich Re and was nobilitated in 1905 by Luitpold, Prince Regent of Bavaria. Since then his family branch carries the nobiliary particle and is known as von Finck. Nobiliary Particle
A nobiliary particle is a type of onomastic particle used in a surname or family name in many Western cultures to signal the nobility of a family. The particle used varies depending on the country, language and period of time. In some languages, it is the same as a regular prepositional particle that was used in the creation of many surnames. In some countries, it became customary to distinguish the nobiliary particle from the regular one by a different spelling, although in other countries these conventions did not arise, occasionally resulting in ambiguity. August François von Finck (born 2 May 1968) is a German businessman and the son of August von Finck, Jr., thus grandson of August von Finck, Sr. August François von Finck's great-grandfather Wilhelm von Finck was the co-founder of the private bank Merck Finck & Co., the insurance companies Munich Re and Allianz – the second largest international insurance and financial services organization in the world. Walter Von Saint Paul-Illaire
Walter von Saint Paul-Illaire or Adalbert Emil Walter Le Tanneux von Saint Paul-Illaire (born 1860; died 1940) was a German colonial official in East Africa. He hailed from the noble family of Le Tanneux von Saint Paul, which had moved to Prussia in the 17th century.
