Capital Idea!
Capital Idea! was a nine-day music festival in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, organized by music blogger and concert promoter Calum Marsh. The festival took place from 21 to 30 June 2007, and featured high-profile indie acts. Despite a great deal of media attention in television, print and internet outlets, the festival failed to attract a large number of attendees. Canadian Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Festival (; ) is a tulip festival held annually each May in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The festival claims to be the world's largest tulip festival, displaying over one million tulips, with attendance of over 650,000 visitors annually. Large displays of tulips are planted throughout the city, the largest of which are often in Commissioners Park on the shores of Dow's Lake, and along the Rideau Canal with 300,000 tulips planted there alone. The festival is a cultural and historical aspect of the special Canada–Netherlands relationship, having originated with commemorative donations of tulips to Canada from the Netherlands for Canadian actions during World War II, when Canadian forces led the liberation of the Netherlands and hosted the Dutch royal family in exile. Bell Capital Cup
The Bell Capital Cup, formerly the Bell Canada Cup is an annual ice hockey tournament staged in Ottawa, Ontario between Christmas and New Years. It is open to youth teams aged 9–13 from all over the world. The tournament attracts as many as 500 teams annually, and in 2007 was named by Guinness World Records as "the world's largest hockey tournament" (a record since broken). Proceeds from the tournament help to fund local minor hockey programs in the Ottawa area. Format The Bell Capital Cup offers up to twenty-one divisions for boys and girls in U10 - U 13 (9 - 12 years old). Nineteen divisions feature boys teams in AAA, AA, A, B and House league divisions (classified as A, B and C) and two atom and peewee girls divisions (AA). Ottawa Bluesfest
The Ottawa Bluesfest (currently known as RBC Bluesfest under a naming rights sponsorship) is an annual outdoor music festival that takes place each July in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. While the festival's lineup historically focused on blues music at its inception, it has increasingly showcased mainstream pop, hip hop, reggae, rock and EDM in recent years. Bluesfest has become the third largest music festival in Canada and the fourth largest music festival in North America. There was a hiatus in 2020–21. Capital Hoedown was a Canadian outdoor country music festival that took place in August in Ottawa, Ontario. Founded in 2010 by Denis Benoit, the three-day annual festival was one of the largest in North America; however, it was cancelled after only two years. 2010 Festival The first Capital Hoedown festival was held August 5–7, 2010, at the Rideau Carleton Raceway.
