F-Zero
is a series of racing games published by Nintendo, developed by Nintendo EAD and other third-party companies. The first game was released for the Super Famicom in Japan in 1990. Its success prompted Nintendo to create sequels on subsequent consoles. The series is known for its high-speed, futuristic racing, characters and settings, difficult gameplay, and original music, as well as for pushing technological limits to be one of the fastest racing games. The original game inspired games such as '' Daytona USA'' and the ''Wipeout'' series. The series has been largely dormant since the release of '' F-Zero Climax'' in 2004 in Japan, although elements have been represented in other Nintendo video games, most notably the '' Super Smash Bros.'' and ''Mario Kart'' franchises. Past installments have been emulated across multiple Nintendo consoles with the Virtual Console service. is a 1990 racing game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It was released in Japan on November 21, 1990, in North America in August 1991, and in Europe in 1992. ''F-Zero'' is the first game in the F-Zero, ''F-Zero'' series and was a launch game for the SNES. ''F-Zero'' was rereleased for the Virtual Console service on various Nintendo platforms and as part of the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017. The game takes place in the year 2560, where multi-billionaires with lethargic lifestyles created a new form of entertainment based on Formula One races called "F-Zero". F-Zero 99
is a 2023 online multiplayer Racing game, racing video game developed by Nintendo Software Technology and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It was released as a free downloadable games for members of the Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) service. It is the first ''F-Zero'' game since F-Zero Climax, ''Climax''s 2004 release, and the fourth ''99''-style NSO Battle royale game, battle-royale game. Based on the 1990 Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) title ''F-Zero (video game), F-Zero'', gameplay is adjusted into a battle royale format by allowing the player to compete with up to 98 other online players. The objective of the race is to outlive other players and finish the race. F-Zero Climax
is a racing video game developed by Suzak Inc. and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) handheld console. The game was released in Japan on October 21, 2004, and marked the final ''F-Zero'' installment for 19 years until the 2023 release of ''F-Zero 99''. Players race in vehicles on numerous courses while navigating past obstacles. While the game is a 2D racer, its Mode 7-styled graphical effect allows the track to be scaled and rotated around the vehicle to simulate a 3D environment. ''Climax'' let players store rewarded speed boosts to use with energy-draining speed boosts. Energy is a reflection of the craft's health, and can be restored by driving over specific areas on the track.
