Europe's Strongest Man is an annual strength athletics competition which began in 1980. The event is held in various locations throughout Europe, and features exclusively European strongman competitors. Mariusz Pudzianowski holds the record for most wins with six titles. As of 2010, the Europe's Strongest Man contest has become a part of the Giants Live season of annual grand prix events. Leeds
Leeds is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Jón Páll Sigmarsson
Jón Páll Sigmarsson (28 April 1960 – 16 January 1993) was an Icelandic strongman, powerlifter and bodybuilder who was the first man to win the World's Strongest Man four times and the first and only man to win the World Muscle Power Classic five times. Jón Páll is widely regarded as one of the greatest strength athletes all time, and is credited with developing Iceland's strength identity. He also set over 25 strength related world records, was named Icelandic Sportsperson of the Year in 1981, and was posthumously inducted into the World's Strongest Man Hall of Fame in 2012. László Fekete (strongman)
László Fekete (born 1958, in Ősi) is a strongman from Hungary. He was ten times Hungaria's Strongest Man from 1988 to 1997 and 1992 Europe's Strongest Man champion. He participated in the World's Strongest Man finals in 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1999, emerging fifth in 1989 and sixth in 1990. Between 1991-2001 in parallel with World's Strongest Man, Fekete organised the World's Natural Strongest Man mini series (also known as László Classic) in Hungary in which he also participated. His son Miklós also competed alongwith athletes representing Sweden, France, Australia, England and Canada. A prolific stone-lifter, Fekete is known for his skills across many different lifts. Forbes Cowan
Forbes Cowan (born 16 October 1964) is a Scottish former strongman competitor and multiple entrant to the World's Strongest Man. Although he never captured the World's Strongest Man title, during the 1990s he was the World Muscle Power champion, Europe's Strongest Man and Britain's Strongest Man, as well as being consistently in the top five in major international competitions. Biography Forbes Cowan began his strongman career in 1990 with a win in his inaugural competition as Cunninghame's Strongest Man in May 1990. Gary Taylor (strongman)
Gary Taylor (born 14 October 1961) is a Welsh former world's strongest man champion (1993). Competing in bodybuilding, Olympic weightlifting, and strongman. Strength sports A former weightlifter, powerlifter, and bodybuilder, Taylor competed at 6 ft (183 cm) and approximately 295 lbs (134 kg) during his strongman career. He competed in weightlifting at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, taking second in the snatch in the 110 kg class. Henning Thorsen
Henning Thorsen (born October 20, 1959) was a strongman and powerlifter from Denmark. He won the Danish superheavyweight powerlifting championships 5 times and Denmark's Strongest Man six times from 1984, 1987 to 1989, 1991 and 1992. Thorsen participated in the World's Strongest Man finals of 1990, 1991 and 1992. His best result was second place to Magnús Ver Magnússon in 1991. Thorsen won Europe's Strongest Man in 1990. Mark Higgins (athlete)
Mark Higgins (born 16 May 1963) is a former strongman competitor, having won the World Strongman Challenge on two occasions, and was the British Muscle Power Champion on four occasions. Previously, he was an international discus thrower and had been a sailor and basketball player at a high level.
