The English Open is a professional ranking snooker tournament, one of the four events of the Home Nations Series. The winner is awarded the Steve Davis Trophy, named in honour of the English six-time world champion. The reigning champion is Neil Robertson. Scottish Open (snooker)
The Scottish Open is a Snooker world rankings, ranking professional snooker tournament held in the United Kingdom. The tournament had many name changes in its history, as the tournament was formerly called International Open, Matchroom Trophy and Players Championship. Apart from a hiatus in the Snooker season 1990/1991, 1990/1991 and Snooker season 1991/1992, 1991/1992 seasons, the tournament remained a ranking event until Snooker season 2003/2004, 2003/2004. In the Snooker season 2012/2013, 2012/2013 season the tournament was added back to the calendar as part of the Players Tour Championship 2012/2013, Players Tour Championship minor-ranking series. Stuart Bingham
Stuart Bingham (born 21 May 1976) is an English professional snooker player who is a former World Champion and Masters winner. Bingham won the 1996 World Amateur Championship but enjoyed little sustained success in the early part of his professional career. His form improved in his mid-thirties: at age 35, he won his first ranking title at the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open, which helped him enter the top 16 in the rankings for the first time. Since then he has established himself as one of the best snooker players of his generation. At 38, Bingham won the 2015 World Championship, defeating Shaun Murphy 18–15 in the final. The oldest first-time world champion in snooker history, he was the second player, after Ken Doherty, to have won world titles at both amateur and professional levels. 2018 English Open (snooker)
The 2018 English Open (officially the 2018 BetVictor English Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament, that took place from 15 to 21 October 2018 in Crawley, West Sussex, England. It was the sixth ranking event of the 2018/2019 season and a part of the Home Nations Series. The defending champion was Ronnie O'Sullivan, who defeated Kyren Wilson in the 2017 event. However, O'Sullivan would lose to Mark Davis 1–6 in the semi-final. O'Sullivan was highly critical of the venue stating "The worst part was not the smell of urine..."This is about as bad as I've ever seen. It's a bit of a hellhole....I don't know what this gaff is, but I've just done an interview and all I can smell is urine." 2017–18 Snooker Season
The 2017–18 snooker season was a series of professional snooker tournaments played between 4 May 2017 and 7 May 2018. The season began with the pro–am Vienna Snooker Open in May 2017 and ended with the 2018 World Snooker Championship in April the following year. Ronnie O'Sullivan earned a joint-record five ranking titles in the season. He joined Stephen Hendry ( 1990/1991), Ding Junhui ( 2013/2014), and Mark Selby ( 2016/2017) in winning five ranking titles in the same season. The China Championship became a ranking event and was brought forward to a mid-August date, ahead of the Paul Hunter Classic. Kyren James Wilson (; born 23 December 1991) is an English professional snooker player from Kettering. He has won 10 ranking titles. Wilson made his professional tour debut in the 2010–11 snooker season, 2010–11 season after finishing fifth in the 2009–10 International Open Series rankings. Ronald Antonio O'Sullivan (born 5 December 1975) is an English professional snooker player. The 2017 English Open (officially the 2017 Dafabet English Open) was a professional Snooker world rankings, ranking snooker tournament that took place from 16 to 22 October 2017 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. It was the seventh ranking event of the Snooker season 2017/2018, 2017/2018 season and a part of the Home Nations Series. Liang Wenbo was the defending champion, having beaten Judd Trump 9–6 in the 2016 final. Liang made a maximum break in his second round match against Tom Ford (snooker player), Tom Ford, but lost in the third round to Yan Bingtao. His maximum won him the "rolling 147 prize" of £40,000. 2016–17 Snooker Season
The 2016–17 snooker season was a series of professional snooker tournaments played between 5 May 2016 and 1 May 2017. The number of ranking events was increased in 2016/17, with a target of 20 ranking events for 2017/18. According to the World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn, total prize money for the World Snooker Tour in 2016/17 hit £10 million for the first time ever. The trophy for the Masters (snooker), Masters was renamed the Paul Hunter trophy in perpetuity, in memory of the three-time Masters champion who died in 2006. The Snooker Shoot Out became a ranking event for the first time. The Australian Goldfields Open was cancelled.
