French Nobility
The French nobility () was an Aristocracy, aristocratic social class in France from the France in the Middle Ages, Middle Ages until its abolition on 23 June 1790 during the French Revolution. House Of Crussol
The House of Crussol (formerly Bastet), is a surviving family of French nobility, originally from Languedoc. Its members have included general officers, a governor, prelates, a woman of letters in the 18th century and deputies in 1789 and the 19th century. The title, Duke of Uzès, was given to the family in 1565 and the Peerage in 1572. History The Crussol family has proven its nobility since 1215 and was admitted to the honors of the Court in the 18th century. Bastet: "a nickname taken by Gérald Bastet or Bastetz, lord of Crussol, of Cruszol, who lived in 1160". Crussol, from the name of a barony located in Vivarais near Valence, to end up completely substituting the name of Crussol for his original surname. Josselin De Rohan-Chabot (1879-1916)
Josselin Charles Louis Jean Marie de Rohan-Chabot, 14th Duke of Rohan, CBE (born 5 June 1938), commonly known as Josselin de Rohan, is a French nobleman and retired politician. He is a former member of the Senate of France, where he represented the Morbihan department from 1983 to 2011. He was president of the Rally for the Republic grouping in the Senate from 1993 to 2002, and of the Union for a Popular Movement grouping in the Senate from 2002 to 2008. Early life A member of the House of Rohan-Chabot, he is the eldest son of Alain de Rohan-Chabot, 13th Duke of Rohan, and his wife, Hélène de Liencourt. Upon his father's death in 1966, he succeeded to the title of 14th Duke of Rohan. His family residences include Josselin Castle in Morbihan. ''Alain'' Charles Louis de Rohan-Chabot (1 December 1844 – 6 June 1914), Prince of Léon, 11th Duke of Rohan, deputy of Morbihan. Early life Rohan-Chabot was born on 1 December 1844 in Paris. He was the son of Charles Louis Josselin de Rohan-Chabot (1819–1893), 10th Duke of Rohan, and Octavie Rouillé de Boissy (1824–1866). His sister, Marie-Joséphine de Rohan-Chabot, was the wife of Odet de Montault, Viscount of Montault, and, after his death, Count Arthur House of Rougé, de Rougé. His paternal grandparents were Anne-Louis Fernand de Rohan-Chabot, 9th Duke of Rohan, Peer of France, Maréchal de camp, ''aide de camp'' of the Duke of Berry, Squire of the Henri, Count of Chambord, Duke of Bordeaux, and the former Joséphine Françoise de Gontaut-Biron de Saint-Blancard (a daughter of Lt.-Gen.
