Doctor Who Doctors
Fourteen actors have portrayed the Doctor in a leading role in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. The series' protagonist, the Doctor is an alien from a species called Time Lords. The transition to each succeeding actor is explained within the narrative through the plot device of regeneration, which allows Time Lords a change of cellular structure when they near death, changing their appearance and personality. The first actor to portray the Doctor was William Hartnell beginning with ''An Unearthly Child'' (1963) through '' The Tenth Planet'' (1966). In the final moments of the serial, the First Doctor regenerated into Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor. The most recent incarnation, the Fifteenth Doctor, was played by Ncuti Gatwa, who took over the role from David Tennant following the conclusion of " The Giggle" (2023). Doctor Who Spin-offs
''Doctor Who'' spinoffs refers to material created outside of, but related to, the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Both during the main run of the series from 1963 to 1989 and after its cancellation, numerous novels, comic strips, comic books and other material were generated based on the characters and situations introduced in the show. The Reality War
"The Reality War" is the eighth and final episode of the fifteenth series of the British science-fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Written by Russell T Davies and directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai, it is the second of a two-part story alongside the preceding episode, " Wish World". The Giggle
"The Giggle" is the third and final of the 60th anniversary specials of the British science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who'', written by Russell T Davies, directed by Chanya Button and broadcast in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 9 December 2023. It features the final regular appearances of David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, introduces Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and guest stars Neil Patrick Harris as the Toymaker, a character last seen in ''The Celestial Toymaker'' (1966). The Fifteenth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''.
