Djavan Albums
Djavan Caetano Viana (; born 27 January 1949) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest singers in Brazilian history. Early life and career Djavan was born in Maceió, Brazil to a white father of Dutch descent and a black mother. He later formed the group Luz, Som, Dimensão (LSD – "Light, Sound, Dimension"), playing Beatles' material. In 1973, Djavan moved to Rio de Janeiro and started singing soap opera soundtracks. His first album, ''A Voz, o Violão e a Arte de Djavan'', was recorded in 1976 and included the hit song "Flor de Lis". Stevie Wonder was a guest on the album ''Luz (Djavan album), Luz''. In 1999, his album ''Ao Vivo'' sold 1.2 million copies. Maceió
Maceió (), formerly anglicised as Maceio, is the capital and the largest city of the coastal state of Alagoas, Brazil. The name "Maceió" is an Indigenous term for a Spring (hydrology), spring. Most maceiós flow to the sea, but some get trapped and form lakes ("lagoas", in Portuguese). There are numerous maceiós and lakes in this part of Brazil; because of this, the city was named Maceió, and the state, Alagoas. The new Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport connects Maceió with many Brazilian cities and also operates some international flights. The city is home to the Federal University of Alagoas. ''Malásia'' is the twelfth album by Brazilian singer and songwriter Djavan. It was released in 1996. The album opens with the song "O Que foi My Love?", a jazz accelerated ending in the form of blues; "Sêca", which talks about the drought in northeastern jungle; "Nem Um Dia" biggest hit of the album on the radio FM to come to the soundtrack of the telenovela "Por Amor" in 1997, "Não Deu", where as a songwriter Djavan embodies the feminine soul to compose the song, "Deixa O Sol Sair", which is based on samba, "Tenha Calma" which had already been made for over a decade, and performed by Maria Bethânia, and "Não Deu", another with a self-lyrical female. ''Bird of Paradise'' is an album by the Brazilian musician Djavan. It was released in 1988 via Columbia Records, part of a Brazilian push by the label that also included albums by Milton Nascimento (''Yauaretê'') and Simone (''Vicio''). Production The album was produced by Ronnie Foster. Three of its songs are sung in English; Djavan had others write the lyrics to them. Djavan recorded the album in Los Angeles, using session musicians. "Stephen's Kingdom", to which Stevie Wonder contributed, is about the South African township of Soweto. ''Djavan'' (also known by its subtitle, ''A Voz, O Violão, A Música de Djavan'') is the debut album by Brazilian singer and songwriter Djavan. It was released in 1976. The album features some of the singer's early hits, like "Flor de Lis," "Para-Raio," "E Que Deus Ajude" and "Fato Consumado". Reception The AllMusic review by Alvaro Neder awarded the album stars, stating "The highlights are the wonderful melodies, the musical sonority of his lyrics (it even doesn't matter if you understand them, as his focus is on its musicality), the smart violão of Djavan, and the rich rhythmic interplay between voice and violão.
