Diocese Of Härnösand
The Diocese of Härnösand () is a division in the Church of Sweden in Västernorrland County. The Cathedral is located at Trädgårdsgatan in Härnösand. History The diocese was established in 1647. In 1904, the diocese of Luleå was formed, breaking away from the diocese of Härnösand. Between 1994-2004, several churches of the diocese experienced a series of thefts. Sollefteå
Sollefteå () is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality and the seat of Sollefteå Municipality in Västernorrland County, Sweden. History The earliest written account on Sollefteå is found in a script dating back to 1270. During this time the name of the village was given as De Solatum - a name that can be interpreted as a composition of ''Sol'' (sun) and ''at'' (property) i.e. literally The sunlit region. ''De Solatum'' also can be interpreted as desolation, which means loneliness or remoteness (see Remote and isolated community). With Sollefteå being located at the lowest rapids of the Ångermanälven thereby making it the last outpost to which it was possible to sail. The village developed into a municipality. Tuulikki Koivunen Bylund
Maritta Tuulikki Koivunen Bylund (born 8 April 1947) is a Finnish-Swedish theologian. She was appointed Bishop of Härnösand in central Sweden on 8 November 2009; she was the fourth woman to be ordained as a bishop in the Church of Sweden. She retired on 13 December 2014. Biography Koivunen Bylund was born on 19 July 1947 in Turku, south-western Finland, and grew up in Rauma where she matriculated from the girls' high school (Rauman tyttölyseo) in 1967. After graduating in theology from Åbo Akademi University in 1971, she was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Lund, Sweden, in the same year. She had emigrated to Sweden because at the time it was not possible for women to enter the clergy in Finland. The churches of Finland and Sweden differed significantly in their admission of women to the clergy. Bertil Werkström
Bertil Werkström (9 June 1928 – 10 July 2010) was Archbishop of Uppsala from 1983 to 1993. Early years and education Bertil Werkström was the son of the Gunnar Werkström (1904-1975) and Ingar Hedenskog (1908-1971). He grew up in Dalsland and studied theology at Lund University in 1954. He graduated in 1959. Afterwards he underwent hospitalization in the United States between 1959 and 1960. He became a doctor of theology in 1963 with the dissertation ''Bekännelse och avlösning. Ruben Josefson
Ruben Josefson (25 August 1907 – 19 March 1972) was a Swedish bishop within the Church of Sweden. He enrolled at Uppsala University in 1926, became a graduate of theology there in 1931, theology licentiate in 1935 and doctor of theology in 1937. Josefson was ordained priest in 1940. Gunnar Axel Engelbrekt Hultgren (19 February 1902 - 13 February 1991) was a Swedish bishop within the Church of Sweden. He was the Archbishop of Uppsala between 1958 and 1967. Martin Johansson (bishop)
Martin Johansson (9 September 1837 – 26 June 1908) was a Swedish prelate who was the Bishop of Härnösand between 1888 and 1908. Early life and education Johansson was born on 9 September 1837 in Villstad, Jönköping County, Sweden, the son of August Johansson, a school teacher and author, and Brita Månsdotter. He studied at Uppsala University and graduated in 1858. In 1863 he earned his PhD and in 1865 his Bachelor of Divinity, from the same university. He was ordained priest in 1865. The following year he was appointed Associate Professor of New Testament Exegesis at Uppsala University. Between 1866 and 1867 he studied abroad and later became an assistant professor in pastoral studies in 1870 . In 1877 he became professor of dogmatic and moral theology at the university. Frans Michael Franzén
Frans Michael Franzén (9 February 1772 – 14 August 1847) was a Swedish people, Swedish-Finland, Finnish poet and clergyman. He served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Härnösand. Biography Franzén was born in Oulu (), Northern Ostrobothnia, Sweden (now part of Finland). At thirteen he entered the Royal Academy of Turku, where he attended the lectures of Henrik Gabriel Porthan (1739–1804), a pioneer in the study of Finnish history and folklore. He graduated in 1789, and became ''eloquentiae docens'' in 1792. Three years later he started on a tour through Denmark, Germany, France and England, returning in 1796 to accept the office of university librarian at Turku in Finland. Carl Gustaf Nordin
Carl Gustaf Nordin (born 2 January 1749 in Stockholm, died 14 March 1812 in Härnösand) was a Swedish statesman, historian and ecclesiastic. Early life In 1774, he was made docent of Gothic antiquities at Uppsala University in consequence of his treatise, "Monumenta svia-gothica vetustioris aevi falso meritoque suspecta". When he was summoned to Stockholm in 1782 by Gustav III of Sweden to edit a Swedish , half an hour's private conversation with the young priest convinced Gustav that Nordin's proper place was in the political arena. Julius Micrander
Julius Erici Micrander Uplandiensis (December 25, 1640 – 1702) was a Swedish professor, member of the Swedish Parliament, and vicar with the Church of Sweden. Biography Micrander was born in the rectory of Bro Church in Uppland, Sweden. His father was Ericus Georgi Micranderan, vicar in Tierp parish and his mother was Benedicta Eriksdotter. By age 10, Micrander was a student at Uppsala University. At age 28, he was studying for a master's degree with the ''De educatione liberorum''. In 1687, Micrander received his second professorship in theology. In 1676, Micrander was appointed as extraordinary professor of Greek, becoming a professor the next year. Mathias Steuchius
Mathias Steuchius (; 26 October 1644 – 2 August 1730) was Bishop of the Diocese of Lund, 1694 to 1714 and Archbishop of Uppsala in the Swedish Church from 1714 to his death. Steuchius was born in Fogdö, and grew up in Härnösand in northern Sweden, where his father was superintendent. He was ordained a priest in 1672 and participated in the Riksdag of the Estates in 1672 and 1675 In 1676 he became professor of logic and metaphysics at the Uppsala University. He married in 1680. In 1683 his father died, and Steuchius superseded him. He worked as superintendent for twelve years, and put much effort into converting the Sami people. In 1693 he was made doctor of theology in Uppsala, and in 1694 promoted to professor. But by June 1694 he was summoned to Lund, to be appointed Bishop of Lund.
