Del Rey, Los Angeles
Del Rey (Spanish for "of the King") is a neighborhood in the Westside of Los Angeles, surrounded on three sides by Culver City, California. Within it lie a police station, the largest public housing complex on the Westside, a public middle school and six public elementary schools. It is served by a neighborhood council and a residents association. Geography According to the Mapping L.A. project of the ''Los Angeles Times,'' Del Rey is surrounded on the northwest, north, northeast and east by Culver City, on the southeast by Playa Vista, on the southwest and west by Marina del Rey and on the northwest by Venice. Los Angeles Neighborhood Signs
The City of Los Angeles posts neighborhood signs to identify the geographic boundaries of different neighborhoods. LAist stated that these signs indicate “official L.A. neighborhood” designation and in 2008 estimated that Los Angeles had 185 neighborhoods with an official "blue sign.” Design The standard neighborhood sign is rectangular and features white letters on a blue background. The city seal is displayed on the sign. Alternative colors and shapes are possible upon request provided they comply with federal and state law. Marina Del Rey, California
Marina del Rey ( Spanish for "Marina of the King") is an unincorporated seaside community in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The eponymous harbor is a major boating and water recreation destination of the Greater Los Angeles area. The port is North America's largest man-made small-craft harbor and is home to approximately 5,000 boats. The area is a popular tourism destination for both land and water activities such as paddle board and kayak rentals, dining cruises, and yacht charters. Redondo Beach Via Playa Del Rey Line
The Redondo Beach via Playa del Rey was an interurban railway route of the Pacific Electric. It operated between the Hill Street Terminal and Cliffton, south of Redondo Beach, through the company's Western Division. The route ran along the coastline of the Santa Monica Bay uninterrupted from Playa Del Rey to the northern edge of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Despite the obvious desirability of the route, which connected all of the beachfront communities to one another and to the urban core, it was mostly never replaced with alternative types of transit. Ballona Creek
Ballona Creek (pronunciation: "Bah-yo-nuh" or "Buy-yo-nah" ) is an channelized stream in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, United States, that was once a "year-round river lined with sycamores and willows".
