César Díaz (film Director)
César Díaz (born 20 September 1978) is a Belgian-Guatemalan film director, screenwriter and editor. Born and raised in Guatemala City, Díaz moved to Belgium in 1998 as a student at the Université libre de Bruxelles, Free University of Brussels. In 2011, after developing an interest in filmmaking, he attended La Fémis film school in Paris where he studied in the school's Atelier Scénario, a year-long screenwriting workshop. Since the mid-2000s, Díaz has worked on a number of documentary films, before making his feature-length debut in 2019 with ''Our Mothers''. The film premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where Díaz won the Caméra d'Or. ''Our Mothers'' received the André Cavens Award for Best Film given by the Belgian Film Critics Association (UCC) and was selected as the Belgian entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. Guatemala City (, also known colloquially by the nickname Guate), is the Capital city, national capital and largest city of the Guatemala, Republic of Guatemala. The Magritte Award for Best First Feature Film ( French: Magritte du meilleur premier film) is an award presented annually by the Académie André Delvaux. It is one of the Magritte Awards, which were established to recognize excellence in Belgian cinematic achievements. It was introduced in 2013 as an audience award. However, its first winner '' Dead Man Talking'' was announced during the 66th Cannes Film Festival, three months later the 3rd Magritte Awards ceremony. Series Mania () is an international festival dedicated to television series, held annually in Lille, France. It is the largest TV series event in Europe and an important premiere platform. ''Series Mania'' comprises an institute of the same name, a forum for industry professionals, and a one-day summit ''Little Dialogues''.
