Cycling At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Cross-country
The women's cross-country mountain biking event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 27 July 2021 at the Izu MTB Course, Izu, Shizuoka. 38 cyclists from 29 nations were expected to compete, but only 37 did. The race ended in all three medals won by Swiss athletes, the first medal sweep in Olympic cycling history. Background This was the 7th appearance of the event, which has been held at every Summer Olympics since mountain bike cycling was added to the programme in 1996. The reigning Olympic champion was Jenny Rissveds of Sweden, and the reigning (2020) World Champion was Pauline Ferrand-Prévot of France. Jolanda Neff (born 5 January 1993) is a Swiss cyclist, who primarily rides in the cross-country cycling and cyclo-cross disciplines, for the Cannondale Factory Racing team. She won the gold medal in the Cycling at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's cross-country, women's cross-country event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Anne Terpstra
Anne Terpstra (born 5 January 1991 in Zierikzee) is a Dutch cross-country cyclist. She is the silver medalist of 2024 World mountain bike championships in Cross-country Olympic. She placed 15th in the women's cross-country race at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was on the start list of 2018 Cross-Country European Championships and was not allowed to finish. In 2019, during the Mountain Bike World Cup in Andorra, she won her first World Cup by beating Jolanda Neff in the final lap. Terpstra is the first Dutch female athlete to win a World Cup. Catharine Pendrel (born September 30, 1980) is a Canadians, Canadian Cross-country cycling, cross-country mountain biker from Harvey, New Brunswick. A member of the Canadian National team since 2004, Pendrel was the world champion in cross-country mountain biking in 2011 and 2014 and the 2007 Pan American Games champion. She is also the current reigning Commonwealth Games champion when she won gold in Glasgow. Additionally, Pendrel is the 2010 World Cup Champion as well as the winner of the 2012 UCI and 2016 World Cup Series. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Haley Batten (born September 19, 1998) is a Professional cross-country mountain biker and Olympic silver medalist. She has represented the United States at the elite level since 2021. Currently on the Specialized Factory Racing team, she rides the S-Works series of mountain bikes. Career Batten won national titles as a junior and another at the U23 level.
