Cycling At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's Cross-country
The women's cross-country cycling event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place at the Mountain Bike Centre on 20 August. The medals were presented by Tricia Smith, IOC member, Canada and Emin Muftuoglu, Member of the UCI Management Committee. Format The competition began at 12:30 pm with a mass-start. The length of the course was 29.67 km (0.57 km + 6 laps of 4.85 km each). The Mountain Bike Centre is a cycling venue in Deodoro Pentathlon Park, located in the Deodoro district of the West Zone in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jolanda Neff (born 5 January 1993) is a Swiss cyclist, who primarily rides in the cross-country cycling and cyclo-cross disciplines, for the Trek Factory Racing team. She won the gold medal in the women's cross-country event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career She was the overall winner of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in 2014 and 2015. Sabine Spitz (born 27 December 1971 in Herrischried, Baden-Württemberg) is a German cross country cyclist. Eva Lechner (born 1 July 1985) is an Italian multi-discipline cyclist, who has won at least one national title in cyclo-cross, road bicycle racing and mountain bike racing. Anne Terpstra (born 5 January 1991 in Zierikzee) is a Dutch cross-country cyclist. She placed 15th in the women's cross-country race at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She was on the start list of 2018 Cross-Country European Championships and was not allowed to finish.
